Summary
It's just the two of them in here, yet the space feels tight and unyielding, as restrictive as a grave. The warmth of the drink is quickly loosening Aranessa's muscles, reaching its spiraling fingers into the network of strands that suspend her foolish, broken heart.
"It's sweet," she says neutrally. "I've always liked sweet things."
"Well, you are one, Aranessa. I can't say I'm surprised."

The flu, he claims. She hadn’t realised it was supposed to hit her at such breakneck speed; Lana had called her childhood sniffles influenza and kept her off school for a day or two. Klavier suggests the opposite - reports an apparently sickly eight-year-old boy, cursed by chills and bone-deep aches, and sneezing so constant that it had torn his tiny little throat into pieces.
Klavier and Ema catch the flu off each other.

Summary
These are what I have affectionately dubbed The Iristitials. Each story spotlights a different moment in the first ten years of Iris’s life.
The stories can be read independently, but many details will carry through.
In the same way, these borrow a lot of pre-canon details, characters, and headcanons from BombshellBlondie’s incredible fic Life Simply Grows Around It. This fic changed my life and I cannot recommend it enough. You don’t strictly need to have read it first for this series to make sense, but also, do not deprive yourself. Go read it!

Summary
"It’s a beautiful day at the Soltryce Academy—the sky is vibrant and the trees rustle with the gentlest of winds as Caleb begins his impromptu Transmutation lecture outside. From the building on the edge of the grounds he hears a muffled bell tolling for fifth period. Somewhere in the distance, a student begins to whistle.
At that moment, Caleb feels at peace.
At that moment, a Purple Worm bursts forth from the soil directly in front of him, and all of his plans for a pleasant afternoon are promptly dashed."
---
Caleb and Essek have finally settled down - more or less. While the beloved and somewhat eccentric Professor Widogast is busy inciting small student-scale riots and teaching tiny wizards morals, Essek spends his days lounging around the house, drinking wine and experimenting with the exotic concept of 'cooking his own meals'. They are pretty sure life is great - until two pre-teen assassins crash-land into the middle of the Soltryce Academy and demand the former Shadowhand be surrendered to their custody. What are the two internationally in/famous mages to do? The answer will shock absolutely no one. -

The Falconer's Rebellion begins, as most rebellions do, with a singular mission and a man far too dedicated to fulfilling it. There's nothing unusual about that. We've seen it before.
This time, though, things turn out a little bit differently.
Thjazi Fang says, Nessa, will you come with me?
And the Lady Aranessa Royce says, Yes.

In the few brief heartbeats before his current body collapsed beneath him, Bolaire hoped he would dream of Hal. He'd never dreamt before, but what had there been to dream of? The Schemers wouldn't force Bolaire onto someone. No matter how much Hal might care about Bolaire as a friend, there were lines he wouldn't cross. Shouldn't cross.
When Bolaire's body dies, he resigns himself to be “sleeping” for a long time. Azune, with the help of the other Schemers, refuses to let that happen, even if it means wearing Bolaire himself. What's a little body-sharing between friends, right?

"He was so young, during the rebellion. He got his fair share of scars, sure, but this is - " he blinks back wetness in his eyes, both because he doesn't know what it means, and also because he will not let Thimble be right about his big wet kitty-cat eyes. "He was reckless, but not stupid. Where has he been?"
If Thimble catches the crack in his voice, she's kind enough to let it pass. "I dunno. You all finding me in the hideout - obviously, it was a fucking nightmare, but at least that part was good. Seeing you again. Then, Kat walking in like that...yeah." She sounds somber. "He was on Thaz's mind, sure, but he wasn't one of the pieces he kept on the board."
"Do you think if he had been kept closer, he would be less - " a dozen words flit across his mind, not all of them Common, but none seem quite right.
"Fucked up?" Thimble offers, and something in Teor's heart hurts.

But Maya watches like her father. She has his eyes, his ears, his intellect. Analysis is easy. It’s not so difficult to piece together that the world is tearing itself to pieces from overheard conversations and subtly exchanged glances between adults. Whatever happened at home kickstarted the end of everything. Nobody survived the city’s crash.
Nobody.
And Dad has always loved his work because he loves their home.
Maya doesn’t have a future anymore. It was ripped from her hands.

Summary
To whom it may concern,
This letter is to verify that the attached correspondence, documents, and various memorabilia once belonged to a mage named Laerryn Coramar-Seelie, Architect Arcane of Avalir. These were found in a box sealed by arcane means and date back to the pre-Calamity era. My deceased husband, Professor Caleb Widogast of the Soltryce Academy, unearthed the box during an exploration trip to Aeor in 837 PD. Through our research, we have found these to be authentic.
I am at your service for any other information you may require.
Regards,
E. Widogast[A transcription with commentary on various mementos and letters belonging to one Laerryn Coramar-Seelie, found in a carved box (bronze and gold inlaid with amethysts, 14 inches high x 18 inches long x 16 inches wide). Originally discovered in the ruins of Aeor in 837 PD by C. Widogast and E. Widogast. Acquired by the Cobalt Soul. ]
