Summary
Vash should've seen it coming, really: one moment, he was arguing with Wolfwood, voices stiff and straining with frustration. The next, he's rammed against the wall, breathing heavily as Wolfwood's arm pins him in place.
It would be easy to dislodge him, then hide in the bathroom for a shower that would do little to wash off the craving and inadequacy Wolfwood's proximity provokes—or to go back downstairs to get drunk at the bar, and later tumble in bed like nothing happened. It's a familiar routine.
However, something is different this time: Wolfwood seems to have no intention to let him go.

At once Nicholas is grinning, revelling in his embarrassment and the fact he’s clearly been spying on him for a while now, observing all the ways he interacts with the kids at Hopeland in a way that's second nature to him. “I never thought I’d see the day,” he taunts, as the scarlet flush spreads to Vash’s neck and chest. “Vash the Stampede, actually settling down and coming up with plans where he has to stay in one place with something he’s responsible for. Someone, even.”
“Hey, I've settled down here already,” he says defensively, “and I’m responsible for looking after you.” To prove his point, he reaches out and tugs at a strand of Nicholas’ silver hair.
This time, they get to spend all of their tomorrows together.

Summary
“Glad to see you back among the living,” Phainon says through a yawn, clearly having spent the night in the uncomfortable chair in the infirmary by Mydei’s side. Like he often does.
Mydei’s head hurts. Just the regular kind of pain, easily managed by ignoring it until it goes away. But what makes it worse, is the confusion at his predicament. The memories returning to him in death used to vary in time and people who appeared in them. Why is it always Phainon nowadays?
“Fuck you,” Mydei says, hoarsely. He feels like he is losing his mind.
Phainon’s mouth locks mid-yawn and he blinks down at him stupidly, tilting his head with confusion. It’s probably fair, he hasn’t even done anything to earn Mydei’s ire as of late.
or; Human brain lives for a few more minutes after dying, replaying the most cherished memories. Mydei starts seeing Phainon after each of his deaths.
