For once, Roy found his mind completely blank. He was sitting in a restaurant across from Riza Hawkeye, at a table lit by romantic candlelight. She was holding his hands, her thumb absently drifting back and forth over his knuckles. There were violins playing somewhere, for god’s sake. He should have been attempting to listen in on Edison again, or passing information to her in code, or something, but all he could think was that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and that it was becoming a problem.

Saving Sumeru together may have repaired many of the long-standing fractures in Kaveh and Alhaitham's relationship.
... Sadly, it did nothing to cure Kaveh's terminal obliviousness.
“One - one more time?!”
Alhaitham huffed softly through his nose. “Kaveh. I’m in love with you.”
Kaveh’s hands shot upward to grasp tightly at his wrists, keeping Alhaitham’s palms pressed against his face like the contact would re-ground him in reality. “I must be going crazy. I’m hearing things...”
With a slow, long-suffering sigh, Alhaitham shut his eyes briefly with exasperation. Then, finally giving in to the fact that Kaveh was simultaneously the smartest - and most idiotic - man he’d ever met, he leaned forward and dipped his forehead to rest against his.
“Let me clarify another way, then,” Alhaitham breathed, nudging their noses together gently.

Kaveh’s face is bright, young, flushed, freckled, happy. He’s wearing an Akademiya uniform and is as tall as the last time Alhaitham saw him (fifteen minutes ago) which means he’s an inch or two shorter than the last time Alhaitham saw him, because the uniform boots are heeled. He’s staring at Alhaitham with the aforementioned flush spreading like dye over the silk of his cheeks.
“Kaveh,” Alhaitham says. “Don’t freak out. I believe I’ve been displaced in time.”

Summary
Though Alhaitham’s instinctive reaction was to push this inexplicably older version of Kaveh away and demand an explanation, something about the desperation in his grip held him hostage. He could feel the rapid rise and fall of Kaveh’s chest against his own, the quivers in his body from the leftover adrenaline of travelling through what had to be some sort of time portal.
He was still trying to make sense of the situation, pulse roaring in his ears, when Kaveh’s fingers began to shift, sliding down the length of his arm until he reached Alhaitham’s left hand.
Kaveh traced along the veins there, pausing - as if searching for something that wasn’t where it should be. Then his posture fell, softening with melancholy. “Oh,” he murmured, almost to himself. “I’m not back yet.”
Alhaitham stiffened. “What?”
“You’re not my Alhaitham,” Kaveh said with a quiet, somber sigh that wavered faintly at the end.

Cyno and Tighnari, through the years.
They were so close he could hear Cyno’s gentle breaths. They stared at each other and Tighnari thought about all those years ago, when Cyno sat on his rickety chair in his dorm room drinking tea as the strands of sunset caught in his hair. When he was a beautiful stranger who saw Tighnari for who he was.
Tighnari always knew that Cyno would never ask for anything more. After today, Cyno would leave again, and he would watch over Tighnari along with the rest of Sumeru from afar. He would continue to prioritise himself last like he had always done.
But Tighnari was tired of watching him go.
