Summary
Ranpo was honestly planning to sleep through the entire show.
He wasn’t even going to go in the first place, but Atsushi had promised to buy him whatever he wanted from the bakery near the school if Ranpo went with him. Atsushi heard from his classmates that Akutagawa, his “mortal enemy,” had painted the sets for the show, and Atsushi wanted to make fun of them. He couldn’t do that without seeing the sets, obviously, so he had begged Ranpo to go with him.
Thus Ranpo, the ever magnanimous senior he was, agreed to go with Atsushi (but only after it was established that he could get anything from the bakery).

Summary
Ranpo Edogawa is an enigma.
Poe is comfortable saying this now that he knows every other person on Earth thinks so too. And because he’s getting better at figuring him out, little by little. His rate of progress is abysmal, but at least it exists. He can tell when Ranpo is loud because he wants attention (which is the most common), but also when he’s loud because it distracts other members of the Agency from their own anxieties. He notices when Ranpo’s facade is just a tad more put-on than usual, and then he knows to light a candle or turn on a light, or take one of the heavier blankets from his closet and offer it to the detective. He knows when Ranpo whines because he wants sweets, which is almost always, but can point out the rare occasions that he wants something savory to balance it out.
All useful information to better bring about his downfall, but sometimes, Poe feels no closer to actually solving the mystery that is Ranpo Edogawa at all.

Summary
There’s something peculiar, in Edgar’s opinion, about loving the world’s greatest detective.
When Edgar doesn’t have the energy to deduce things, Ranpo will tell him plainly, even if he’ll inevitably complain until Edgar smiles at him and offers to brush his hair in thanks. When Ranpo doesn’t want to figure something out, Edgar will do the same. It’s a promise they made before they’d even gotten together, in the weeks following the vampire incident, when Ranpo was trying too hard to make up for mistakes that weren’t his and Edgar wasn’t quite sure where he belonged.
So when Ranpo sits on the couch next to him in their home, bumping his shoulder into Edgar’s arm, and asks what’s wrong, Edgar answers.
“Do you want to get married, Ranpo-kun?”
