“Only the best,” the man easily responds, taking a sip just to prove a point.
“For a good ol’ boy,” John replies easily enough, watching the man's pink tongue dart out, licking a stray droplet.
“A good boy, hm,” the man echoes, his gaze traveling slowly down John’s frame, a maddening descent. “I don’t know about me,” he adds, a bit softer. “But you, on the other hand —” The man’s mouth curves, the sharp flash of teeth, like a predator lying in wait. “You look like a good boy, yeah?”

Summary
Johnny knew that being a dog owner would come with some limitations and challenges. But he had to admit, scaring off half the city's groomers came with some perks. It had brought him to Simon. Ex-military like himself, Simon definitely preferred the company of animals over their owners. But Johnny tried not to get his hopes up when Simon offered to show him how to groom his dog himself, wouldn't mind coming over to his flat to show him how to use the tools he had at home.

But, before heading on leave, he’d been on a grueling mission, one where he wore his contacts for 72-hours straight without changing them.
