She’s got a broken nose and two cracked ribs and she turns eighteen in a month and a half and her parents are dead. Steve Harrington is in the next bed, Robin Buckley from fourth period English curled into his side, and Steve’s watching her when Heather wakes up — Robin, that is. He only turns to Heather when she makes a groaning little noise, and his face is worse than she’s seen it before, because Steve gets his ass handed to him a lot for some reason — and maybe she knows the reason now — and he looks at her with those big cow eyes of his, smiles in a way that’s also a wince.
