Summary
Leon turns just in time to see her new partner, Jack Krauser, eat dust. He’s tripped over something, ended up face-first into some weird looking plant that Leon really hopes isn’t poisonous as she’d have no idea to do that kind of first aid here without any proper supplies. “Jack?” she asks, stopping to wait for him to stumble back up. “You okay?”
Krauser grunts. “Aside from my pride?” he asks, giving her a glare.
She hasn’t known him long, but it’s clearly a joke despite his gruff exterior, so she huffs out a laugh. “Just try not to slow us down too much.”

Piers huffed and pinched her ass. “Stop teasing me. The next call is in like five minutes.”
“Sucks to be you,” Leon sing-songed, laughing as Piers retaliated with a slap to her butt. She leaned in, almost falling over as her balance was shot to hell, and gave him a soft kiss. “I know it fucking sucks, but you can do it.”
“Language,” Piers said, although he was smiling kind of dreamily. “Not in front of the baby.”
Leon groaned. “Not fair. I’m always in front of the baby.”
“Are you sure—”
Immediately Leon knew where it was going. “Honey, sweetheart, love of my life,” she said, with a bit of warning in her tone, laced together with genuine amusement. “I love you. But if I don’t get some fresh air right the hell now I’m going to strangle you.”
“Okay,” Piers said, laughing. “Have fun.”
