    Summary

Lena lays there for a moment, brain frantically trying to recalibrate, heart beating a panicked staccato hard against her ribs. She stares up at the thick tree cover, fighting to catch her breath and her lungs burn behind her sternum. A new sound cuts through the noise of nature around her.

A hum, light and almost cheery. Melodic. Beautiful. Followed by heavy footfalls and Lena’s heart seizes up in her quivering chest.

“Wow, you made it so much further than I thought you would,” Kara calls into the night, her tone as light and airy as her humming was. “Even with that fifteen-minute head start. But seriously, Lena. Did you really think I wouldn’t be able to find you?”

Kara and Lena play a game in the woods but things quickly escalate.

Excellently written!!!!!1!1!! Jesus fuck this was so hot. This is the greatest rendition of Red K-esque Kara I've ever seen. Emphasis on -esque. Other renditions just make her seem to much like a... how do I put this-- corny booktok villain. But this onee?? IT WAS SO HOT. I love the way Kara keeps her still sunny disposition, albeit twisted, when she plays her character. It just makes her even more menacing!!!

I love how despite everything that was happening, there was implicit trust and care. Lena knows Kara would never hurt her and Kara makes sure that knowledge embeds itself. It's so sweet how she keeps checking on her :)) During AND after. I'm so glad the author included an aftercare portion. I def wanted to know what the pair had to say after that little game.

    10/10 absolutely amazing

    excerpts:

But now, Lena’s running like hell away from that hero, from that source of strength and security.

    --

And her faith that Kara will never give her more than she can handle does not falter even for a second. Foolish or not, she gives herself wholly.

    --
Never one to deny this woman anything, Lena comes.

This was such a fun read. The tension is AMAZING. I love the way Kara was written in a way that highlights qualities beyond her being generally a ray of sunshine. She gets cocky and teasing but you know it's all in good nature. I ALSO LOVE how there's moments where you can definitely see that she has limits too. The most glaring and THE HOTTEST one being her threatening Eve you had better believe I will make an exception HOLY SHIT. Lena come get your wife!!!

I LOVED LENA IN THIS TOO. She's so fucking bratty. It's so funny how she keeps trying to piss Kara off and how she just refuses to get any semblance of help—BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T NEED KARA and allat but whatever you say pookie. Your wife is always there for you and you KNOW it!!! She's so dysfunctional but i love her.

“Kara,” she says slowly, firmly. “Jump.”

And before she even has time to blink the Kryptonian is up and off the floor, hovering a good three feet above the balcony tiles as she stares at Lena with wide, expectant eyes.

Well, fuck. She hadn't even asked how high?

::this is so hot this is so hot this is so hot I DONT KNOW WHY BUT ITS SO HOT. Fuck bro imagine this superpowered being just at your beck and call LENA STOP BEING MEAN TO YOUR WIFEEEEE

    --
"How many fingers am I holding up,” Lena grumbles, snaking one hand out from under the quilt to flip the blonde an inelegant bird before sleep reclaims her once more.

    ::LEna no sweetie thats bad!!!

    --

“You've got me here, pinned to a wall, and the only thing you want to do is teach me?”

    “You don't want to know.”

    ::HELLO????? 😭😭

    --
Fuck her, the filthy perfidious lust demons in the darkest corners of Lena's mind agree enthusiastically. She douses them in a bucket of ice water, squaring her own shoulders to match. No. Fuck her.

    --
It's a move that says, you, oh, it's you, and Kara does it when she looks at Lena.

    --
Something hot and wet slicks briefly inside the shell of her ear. Teeth graze momentarily over the lobe.
    “Why not, Lena?”

    --
Today, when an explosion rocks the floor beneath her feet mid-way through her appraisal of L-Corp's quarterly reports, the first emotion that floods Lena's mind is exasperation. How anyone is expected to run not one but two multi-million-dollar business empires under these conditions is, frankly, beyond her.Lena snaps, huffing. “Fuck, no one ever accused you of being the brains of the operation, did they?”

    --
“I don't like to kill people,” Kara says again, and past her pooling tears and pounding heart Lena hears a thud, a scream, a grunt. “But if you touch her again, Eve Teschmacher, you had better believe I will make an exception.”

::HOLY SHIT. Protective Kara!!! Hell yeah, lets fucking gooo

    --
I thought we already had the conversation that very firmly established that you can't protect everyone.”

"Not everyone,” Kara mumbles faintly, her unwieldy weight growing heavier with every step. “You.”

    --
it's definitely symbolic, the way Kara's stripping her of each of her weapons, of every last one of her defences. It's metaphorical and emblematic and significant, sure, but it's also hot as all fuck, having Kara on her knees like this between Lena's spread thighs, hands coasting over every inch of her body, and Lena's tired of pretending not to want the only thing she's truly wanted for the past five and a half years.

    ::FREAK

    --
Kara doesn’t even hesitate, leaning down to press her lips to each purpling mark, mouth tracking a trail of fire up the blue-black ladder of Lena's ribcage. It's exquisite, even through the pain. Lena would take a body full of fractures any day of the week if it meant even one more moment of this.

    --
“What can I say,” Kara pants, pressing a sloppy kiss to the swell of Lena's bottom lip. “You're so hot when you're trying so hard to hate me.”

    Summary

Kara Danvers is a good assistant. A little inexperienced, maybe, but she has other qualities. A good memory. Punctuality. An uncanny knack for always having exactly what Lena wants before she asks for it. And, of course, absolutely zero connections. Not to other businesses. Not to Lex. There’s something to be said for an assistant that won’t plant bugs in her office. Or let in assassins.
But, perhaps, Lena should rephrase. Kara Danvers used to be a good assistant. Maybe the best assistant Lena’s ever had. So why, pray tell, was Lena’s most reliable assistant suddenly terrible?

    ...

What if Kara had become Lena Luthor's assistant instead of Cat Grant's?

    Bookmarker's Notes

OMGGSGFF. I love this fic so much!! I love the way the dynamic between Kara and Lena has been written. On one hand you have an idiot Super, the other, a very concerned Luthor who's trying her best to keep said idiot from dying. The way both of them are very willing to risk their own necks just to protect the other and the way Lena sees and begins to treat Kara as more of a friend rather than keeping her at an arms length(because of their positions) is very dear to me 😭😭

I have more to say but I'm very sleepy at the time of editing this bookmark so im just going to point towards a list of my favourite excerpts ↓

Supergirl’s face lights up. “Anything! What do you need?” And that’s… Oh. Oh no. A fresh dread replaces the old one. Naivety is par for the course for Superman— Truth, Justice, and the American Way and all that — but eagerness to please…

How long has she been doing this? A month? Two? She’s going to get killed out there.

    --
“Lena,” Kara says, with a tone that makes Lena’s stomach turn, “where is your food?”

    “…The kitchen?” Lena says.

“That’s… it?” Kara asks, somehow growing more aghast. “Lena, you don’t have eggs. Or milk.”

    --
“It’s just— she’s just so—” Kara’s face screws up with the effort of finding an appropriate word. “She’s just so mean.”
Lena’s mouth twitches. From Kara’s lips, that sounds a deadly insult.

    --
Kara hates these parties. Oh, she’d never admit it, just like she’d never admit she hated Lena’s old sage air freshener. But her nose had wrinkled just so every time she entered Lena’s office, and Lena has noticed things at these galas too. Like how Kara squints whenever the stage lights flicker. Or the way she always stands as far from the speakers as possible, while still being with snacking range of the waiters.

    --
Kara groaned. “I hate him. I do. But he sucks so much. And he won’t stop staring at your boobs during meetings.”
Truth be told, Lena always wore low-cut blouses to to her meetings with Lord. The more distracted he was, the more favorable the contract. It didn’t always work, and Lena was certain he knew what she was doing, but it had secured them the manufacturing plant in Canton. Know thy enemy, no?

    --
Kara looks up her, and her eyes are firm, but not cold. “You’re my friend, Lena. Not my mother. You don’t get to choose for me.”
Lena draws in a breath. A thousand rebuttals spin in her mind, but her tongue hangs useless in her mouth. Friend. Kara thinks they’re friends?

    --
“Kara Danvers,” she says in amazement, “are you sick?”
Kara looks up and oh my god, she is. Her nose is red and puffy, her eyes decorated by dark bags. Kara Danvers, who survived the LuthorCorp Food Poisoning of 2015 unscathed? Kara Danvers, who had refused to leave when Lena caught that awful flu and had personally brought Dayquil, soup, and tissues to her desk for two days without developing so much as a sniffle?

    --
Lena waves her goodbye and makes a mental note to call the cleaning staff to disinfect the elevator. Lena does not want whatever superbug has finally brought Kara’s immune system to its knees. She’d be lucky if it didn’t cripple the whole building.

    --
It’s one of God’s greatest miracles that Kara has managed to survive to adulthood.

    --
Kara’s apartment is a reflection of all the people in her life— and Lena is here too.

    Bookmarker's Notes

THIS WAS... So well written!!! Jesus. I have so many words that I don't know how i can possibly describe this fic in a way that does justice to how GOOD it is. I love Kara. I love Lena and Other Lena!! This shit was so good it made me cry on multiple separate occasions. I dont think I'll ever recover from this.

I'd put more if there wasn't any char limit but here are a few of my favourite excerpts complet with real time annotations below↓

“Well, he, ehm, offered to show me what life would have been like if things had gone differently.”

    “Different how?”

Lena’s voice was so cold it even made Kara’s impenetrable skin break out in goosebumps

Kara swallowed. “Like, if I’d told you my secret earlier?”

Lena quieted down for just a second, and Kara braced herself for impact.

“You let a fifth-dimensional genie grant you wishes?” she asked softly.

    ::I LOVE IT ALREADY

    ---
    Kara missed her.

She couldn’t quite understand why or how, but she found herself thinking of the Other Lena at random times during her day. She’d think of her when she saw a fun cover for a magazine. She thought of her at lunch, wondering what Lena was eating – could she eat after all the experiments performed on her? She thought of Lena when it least suited her, in the middle of conversations, or when time would drag by horrifically slowly at work. She would think of Other Lena, what she was doing, and if she was keeping herself entertained with the endless supply of books and magazines Kara had rattled up.
:: It's crazy how sometimes you can't even tell which Lena she's talking about. It doesn't matter to her which version or dimension Lena's from. They're all her Lena 🥹🥹🥹

    ---
The idea almost forced her to revisit her own theory that she needed Lena in her life. Lena in any shape or form she could get. Whether it was her friend who currently ignored her entire existence or a shadow that only looked like her, and was often set on Kara’s demise.

    --
Other Lena perked up, seemingly coming alive with every new millimeter of space she took up in Kara’s head. Like she needed it to sustain herself. Like she was a mythical figure that only existed if people were obsessively thinking about her. If she was, Kara thought harshly, she would be bursting with life from Kara’s mind alone.

    --
“You do know that I wouldn’t give up on you, right?”

::So true omfg. Kara would help Lena in every universe except the one where she literally physically magically could not. Buuuut, now that Other Lena is in Kara's universe, she could help her. HOLY SHITTTT.

    --
Kara would stay home, watching the hours pass, and ponder on how she’d get through the next couple of hours.
::This is such a good description

    --
“Thank you,” she whispered. “For sticking with me.”
Lena shot her a ghost of a smile.
“In every universe, right?” she asked with a wry smile.
Kara closed her eyes and smiled, before nodding.
    “It seems like it.”

    --
“I’m serious, Alex,” Kara pulled herself further to the edge of the couch. “Lena and I are just friends.”
“Kara,” Alex seemed to force her voice down. “You can’t really believe that, can you?”

:: KARA. Sweet summer child.. LMFAOO

    --
she thought to herself that even if Lena hadn’t reassured her, she would have taken that hand. In any situation, at any time.

    --
“You don’t know how often I lived something and wished to the fucking bottom of my heart that you could’ve been there to see it,” Other Lena said. “How much it hurt to know that you would never see the things you helped create. The changes I made for you. And that’s where the missing will always be.”

    --
“I found the missing to be a testament to how much we cared for each other. How we loved each other enough to change.”

    --
“I’m grateful, Kara Danvers,” she murmured, “to have gotten the chance to cross universes to get to know you.”

I liked the arranged marriage idea much more than I thought. Melina is characterized so well here and the author was so right to say that Fromsoftware really fucked up by cutting off more content related to her.

I'm just a little sad cuz WDYM THIS WAS UPDATED 4 YEARS AGO?? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE NOW 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Patiently waiting for the day it updates. I hope the author doesn't forget about thisss
