Dick's chest tightened as his lips parted to say something that he'd truly regret.
Before a pair of lips pressed against his cheek, then disappeared so quickly that Dick was almost sure he'd imagined it. If it weren't for Bruce's fractionally wide eyes, Dick would think he had.
Slowly, he turned his head to the side. Tim smiled back at him.

Tim Drake has the ability to shapeshift. Any animal he’s seen—whether in person, through photographs, or even just on a page—he can change into it. And he excels at it, too…but he doesn’t do it around the Bats.
It becomes a problem when the Bats face off against bad guys that he’s not sure they can beat on their own. At least…not unless he shows what he’s been hiding. It’s an easy choice to make.

In this world, shifters are common in the human population. Mythics, shifters that can shift into mythical creatures like dragons and others, are another story entirely, believed to be just a legend.
Bruce somehow acquired four of them as his children, that is the story.
Or: even if his children are legendary creatures, being a father is still an arduous life-long process.

Summary
Tim still found his shift to be near-foreign, even after Jason rejoined the family. Said family seemed to make it their mission to change that, with Jason at the helm, leading the effort. Things get a bit messy (though not overly so - Tim didn't even eat the mouse!) but they seem to be managing. Three times being a fox wasn't the worst thing in the world -
Something twisted in his gut, not quite painful, but forceful, and Tim gasped out. A shift rippled through him, impossible to fight, and he was a fox before he knew it, and he - Tim tried to shift back, to be human and not quite so defenseless, but something blocked him. It wasn’t his fear.
