Summary
This universe is completely different from his own; yet, in many respects, it's the same in the ways that matter. The Red Hood finds a broken bird in an abandoned wing of Arkham Asylum and rescues him. He doesn't expect for the bird to grow attached; or for him to do the same.
Basically, post-UtRH Jason gets punted into the Arkham-verse and, upon seeing Arkham Jason, goes "Is anyone gonna save him or am I gonna have to do it myself?" while completely disregarding the fact that he's a complete disaster himself.

Summary
Jason has figured out that there are two groups of people: the "Heys" who keep him in a bathtub with too little water and subject him to unimaginable pain every time they pry scales from his body and the "Assholes" who buy the scales.
So when he's taken from the Heys by some Asshole, he's not stupid enough to assume his situation will actually improve at all. All humans, after all, are terrible--especially Assholes who wear demon skin and don't quite grasp how lost Jason really is.
(In which Jason misunderstands pretty much everything about humans and Bruce is an asshole...in the nicest way possible.)

Jason spits some of the blood from his busted lip, most of it landing on himself, and gives a smile through bloodstained teeth.
"Sorry… I don't carry that kind of money. But maybe if you rummage around, you might find a nickel or two. I swear if you feel something weird in my pocket, it's a gun. I'm not that happy to see you."
Roman signals to Enzo, who doesn't have to be told twice, punching Jason in the gut and making him wheeze.
"Not there, a-a bit to the left!".
"Again" Roman hisses.
(Or: During his stint in Arkham Asylum, Jason receives a visit from a disgruntled foe wanting revenge. But killing him or beating him up just isn't enough.
The gore tag refers to some violent and graphic deaths, but nothing saw-esque or anything like that. The other tags are quite accurate, though. So if you don't like that sort of thing please don't read).

The kid—Jason—stared at Slade with wide, alert eyes. Big and round like a doe—startled in its grazing, frozen in the sights of a predator. He leaned forward, one hand still gripping the pistol but the other anchoring his weight against the floor as if to stand and chase after Slade. But with Slade’s eye on him, Jason didn’t dare move an inch. All tense lines and silent shudders of breath that Slade could see quake along the kid’s ribs, Jason reminded Slade of a stray dog. Snarling and snapping its canines when he got too close, but whimpering and whining when he walked away.
Slade wondered how long it’d take to tame the kid; and, thereupon, realized he might enjoy the challenge of it.
