Summary
Alina Starkov and Aleksander Morozova have finally found their way back to each other after he returned from dead.
Now that The Black General has become the new Regent of West Ravka, and he and Alina have been expecting twins, it would seem that things will finally start to look better in this country ravaged by constant military conflicts and the inept rule of the Lantsov dynasty.
The problem is that the young Tsar Nikolai will do everything in his power to prove that he is a better ruler than the Darkling, engaging himself in a very dangerous political marriage with the Shu-Han Princess. Meanwhile, Alina's pregnancy turns out not to be exactly what she imagined. In her quest to solve the mysteries of the past, the future queen of Ravka will inadvertently become entangled in the secrets of the Morozova family, which will – as it turns out – lead her to the mysteries of her own origin. When Alina Starkov had set fire to the dead body of Aleksander Morozova - which had been placed on the funeral pyre - she hadn't realized that this would only be the beginning of her troubles. She did not only inherit the dark powers of the Darkling, losing the ability to summon light, but she also threatened the political security of all Ravka. All Saints' Day - also known as Diedy - was approaching inexorably, and it was then that Alina was to publicly appear to her subjects. A painting found at a stall with gifts for the dead forever changed the life of the future queen of Ravka. Or rather, not the painting itself, but the caption put under it, which read: "The Starless Saint".
This story begins at the end of Season 2 of the "Shadow and Bone" TV series and presents the possible events of Season 3 from the perspective of Alina Starkov and Aleksander Morozova. The plot is based on the concept of "love warring", presented by Ben Barnes, who plays the Darkling. This fic is a canon divergence, combining the events of the series and the book canon from the "King of Scars" duology.

With the external threats neutralized and all the Grisha secured safely, Alina and Aleksander are redirecting their attention towards rebuilding Ravka. What should have been an moderately easy task becomes severely complicated due to return of Aleksander's old nemesis—Mikhail Lanstov, the late king Pyotr's vengeful older brother. Meanwhile a Fjerdan secret invasion is also looming over the horizon.
With Mikhail's arrival, alliances begin to shift and old bonds are resurfacing, threatening to ruin the hard earned peace they fought for. While Nikolai remains unaware of the growing danger near him, Aleksander and Alina are fighting to restore order back in Ravka all the while struggling with their own complex feelings.
Will they succeed? Will Ravka be saved? Will the Grisha be finally liberated? Will Alina and Aleksander's complicated love restore? Read more to find out.
