Summary
Tommy double checks his messages as he walks into the building. He laughs fondly at the way Howie described this Evan Buckley—goes by 'Buck'—as if he was a victim needing transport and not his brother-in-law who needed a ride home after his colonoscopy and endoscopy.
Tommy spots him right away in the half-filled waiting room. Brown hair (and soft curls Tommy wants to sink his fingers into)? Check. Pink birthmark set over (probably) blue eyes? Check. And he was easily six-two—he was massive even sitting down—but Howie failed to mention the guy was 85% legs.

Summary
He exhaled loudly. Buck needed to remind himself—he’s a firefighter, for Pete’s sake. He squatted to check the emergency call panel. “Hello? Hi. This is Evan Buckley, resident of, uh, apartment 533, and I’m stuck in your elevator. I’d really love not to spend my birthday in here-”
A soft chuckle came from behind him.
Buck froze.
Or in which Buck got stuck in an elevator with a neighbour on his birthday.
Edit : Now with a second chapter—Tommy's POV!

Summary
"You know, you're real mouthy for someone who's this close to getting arrested."
"Yeah, well, you’d be surprised what else my mouth can do."
Buck opens that big, stupid mouth before his brain can hit the brakes. He swears he hears tires squealing and horns blaring as his world comes to a screeching halt.
Mouth running dry, Buck feels trapped in the sudden silence. He blinks up at the officer, whose eyebrows are rising high enough to reach his hairline. He wonders if he's gone too far, maybe crossed a line he can't walk back from.
That's when Buck notices something.
The officer's gaze shifts from Buck's eyes to his lips, staying there a beat too long. Buck's chest tightens with satisfaction. He holds back a smirk when the officer shifts his stance and tugs on his belt, adjusting his pants. Too easy.
"Sir," the officer says dryly, "I doubt I'd be surprised at all."
Buck's new neighbors file noise complaints that simply aren't true. That doesn't stop an officer from showing up at his front door. Not only is the guy hot as hell, but apparently open to the right kind of bribe.

Summary
Buck opened the door and immediately forgot how to speak. Jesus christ he’s tall. Buck wasn’t sure why that was his first thought, since the man was only an inch taller than him but he seemed huge in the building’s narrow hallway, a tight blue sweater stretched across his massive chest and broad shoulders. He had flowers in one hand and a card in the other, and his eyes were a shade or two darker than his sweater. Buck wasn’t sure why he noticed that in particular, except that they were the same color as the ocean after a storm and he might have been drowning in them.
“Hi.” He sounded as surprised as Buck felt. “Is Abby here?”

Summary
They’d kept it under wraps to an almost paranoid degree. They didn’t touch in public, not even on their hikes up the countless trails that were never short of people minding their own business as they took in the good weather. They sat on opposite sides of the table at dinner. Evan came over to his place instead of taking the risk with his roommates. Evan had even come up with a cover story if they ever ran into anyone: he was picking Tommy’s brain about the job. Nothing more. Nothing less.
What if Buck and Tommy met the three months before Tommy transferred to Harbor and Buck started at the 118?
