Summary
Sirius plays the game. Even though he makes it all the way to New York City, still he works for his father's company, still he capitulates to his parents' every stupid demand, he thinks: when Regulus, his brother ten years his junior, is old enough and can make his own choices, Sirius can leave all this shit behind. Every day feels like a waiting game, life on pause until the perfect conditions are met and finally he can live the life he wants to live it.
But now Regulus is old enough, and it's still the same old bullshit with no end in sight, and Sirius is drowning. Until one day, a Teaching Assistant crashes his motorcycle at his feet.

Summary
25-year-old Remus Lupin lives with his mother, who has cancer and is unable to work. Remus, of course, takes care of her to the best of his ability. Secretly, he is panicking because his income alone is not enough to cover their expenses. To spare them from having to move, he decides to rent out a room, but convinces his mother that their guest is just a friend who needs somewhere to live, not to worry her about their financial situation.
25-year-old Sirius Black has just been kicked out of his wealthy but abusive home. He is in dire enough need of a place to stay to accept some odd conditions, including telling the old lady that he is friends with her son, the landlord, and not renting at all. He is set on travelling the world as soon as he has recovered enough and never again let himself be trapped in one place.
