Summary
Don wasn’t expecting the fire to have spread as quickly as it did, or he would never have let Blue go inside with Taylor. When they arrived on the scene, the blaze was still constantly contained on the upper left side of the house and there was only one person trapped inside. Don figured it was an ideal learning opportunity for Blue - send him in, keep him a safe distance from the heart of the fire while Ryan got the homeowner out safely, let him see how they handle this kind of thing. What could go wrong?
That was the thought still running through his head as the roof collapsed inwards, sending smoke billowing into the air
Blue gets concussed on a call. Don struggles with the distance between them.

Summary
Ryan was on his way to the kitchen for a midnight glass of water when he heard the voice.
He hadn’t noticed Blue’s empty bed on his way out of the bunk room, but that was undoubtedly his newly-discovered brother’s- half-brother’s- voice coming from the kitchen. In the dark, Ryan could only make out Blue's silhouette, one arm holding his phone up to his ear, talking quietly to whoever was on the other end of the line. For a moment Ryan hovered where he was, debating whether it was worth braving the awkwardness of interrupting, before Blue’s words registered and he realized he was talking about the firehouse.
Ryan let himself creep closer, painfully aware that he shouldn’t be eavesdropping on a call that was none of his business. But Ryan still wasn’t exactly thrilled about Blue’s presence at his fire house, and he found himself curious about what Blue had to say about the job he’d been all but handed on a silver platter.
Ryan overhears Blue talking about his insecurities about his place in his dad's life, and it makes him realize that he's misjudged his brother a little.

Summary
This was the breaking point, Derek decided. He’d been unwilling to push Reid to open up in the past, leaving him to his secrets, but not this time. Derek was going to sit here across the room from his partner for as long as it took. Reid may be stubborn, but he’d find out that he was nothing compared to Derek Morgan.
“Spencer, I’m not going anywhere until we talk this through.” Derek said firmly. “We can sit here all night if that’s what it takes.”
Reid has a nightmare, and it prompts a conversation that he's been avoiding having with Morgan for years.

Summary
'But what his mind kept coming back to over everything else was Reid’s reaction to being under hypnosis. His weak, terrified ‘I don’t want to be here’. Rossi wasn’t an idiot. He’d been doing this job for a long time, and met hundreds of victims over the course of his career. He knew what a victim sounded like reliving their worst nightmares.'
On the jet home from the Riley Jenkins case, Reid and Rossi talk.

Summary
Absent-mindedly picking up the knight closest to him, Morgan admired the exquisite detail carved into the piece. Each fine detail of the horse’s head was etched delicately into the smokey black crystal, light dancing off of every angle and crevice. Both the white and black pieces were shot through with delicate trails of gold, matched by the gold outline around each square of the board
“Reid, this is beautiful,” Morgan murmured, gently replacing the knight in its place, the woven fabric underneath muffling any noise as it met the chessboard.
Glancing over his shoulder, Morgan realized that Reid was standing right beside him. In his fascination with the chess set he hadn’t even noticed that Reid had joined him, file in hand.
“It was a gift from my father,” was Reid’s response.
Reid and Morgan talk.
