Summary
Denji was such a malleable, frazzled mess of a boy. He chased his tail without knowing why he needed to catch it in the first place. Even if it was trivial, Yoshida wanted to throw him some new tennis balls to chew—if he wasn’t at least doing that, then he was failing, wasn’t he? Maybe Denji would let him rub his belly if he showed him a good time. Maybe he could take a shred of the grief and uncertainty off of his shoulders.

Aki held the pistol up to an eye. Aimed it at the middle of Makima’s chest. It’s not a rifle, Aki, Makima had said, and she walked behind him to guide his arms straight in front of them both.
And this, she said, is how you shoot to kill.
Aki leaves his katana unsheathed on his desk. He signs his name in blood and calls it a night. Tomorrow, his paperwork will still be here. Tomorrow, Aki will be here and not at home, and the desk across from him will still be empty.

"What would you do," Denji asks. "If I were a girl?"
“Well, if you were especially pretty." He cradles Denji's chin with two fingers, a silvery scar just barely missing his lips. “I’d do something like this.” His breath ghosts over Denji’s mouth, and a sliver of pink, pink tongue flicks out. “And I’d kiss you.”
Denji looks up at him beneath gold eyelashes. “You would?”
“Yeah,” Yoshida breathes. Stronger, he says, “yes,” and straightens his shoulders, pulling from a well of resolution he could have sworn he had to move away from Denji.

Summary
During their last battle, Sasuke notices all the little things that don't add up about Itachi. As his brother collapses in front of him, Sasuke tries to process all the contradictions. Itachi is still barely breathing, Zetsu is encouraging him to finish him off, but the strange feeling in his chest says he's missing something. Sasuke decides to save Itachi in order to get answers for all of his questions. But when Itachi is saved with the help of an experimental treatment from Kabuto, he has no intention of telling Sasuke anything. Sasuke sees more and more of his brother peeking through despite the lies and deflections, leaving him unable to separate from Itachi for even a moment. All his feelings bloom based on faith, that complete blind trust that Sasuke used to have as a child that he never lost despite the years of hatred.
