Harry's eyes burned, tears falling faster, and a sob rose in his chest. He roughly swiped at his face, uncaring of the snot smearing over his sleeve; after all, Tom wasn’t going to see it and complain.
Or would he? He probably would, actually; Voldemort knew just how much the two loved each other (though he incorrectly assumed it was a version of Stockholm Syndrome, a misapplication of the term that Tom could vent about for hours), and would surely force him to bear witness to Harry’s body. His stomach twisted at the thought.
Would it be better if he jumped feet first, likely succumbing instantly to internal injuries while saving his face, possibly even preserving the state of relieved joy that Harry expected to accompany his fall? Or would that be worse for Tom, leaving a final image of the green eyes he loved so much, now empty and hollow, gazing sightlessly back at him?
