Summary
Shadow knew that the way he felt about food was unhealthy.
He understood that it wasn’t normal to stare down at a perfectly good plate of food and hold back a panic attack, or tears, or whatever other unreasonable reaction his mind had when he should have been eating. His heart wasn’t supposed to race when Rouge mentioned that it was nearing dinner; his chest wasn’t supposed to feel tight when Sonic asked him if he was hungry after a race.
Shadow hated food. He hated how long it took him to figure out which foods were safe at any given time, and the energy it took to chew, and the texture of mushed food in his mouth, sliding down his throat.

Update as of 04/12/2026: We've decided to break the one-shot up into smaller, more manageable "chapters" for the reader's enjoyment. Nothing from the plot has changed, except for some minor pacing tweaks. Just a heads-up: since it's been a few months, we deleted the original Google Draft work, so we had to copy and paste from our edits here.
