In front of him is a headstone, sprawled with his mother’s name. Gently, he lays a bouquet of yellow blooms to rest beside her. Daffodils— though he doesn’t know that yet.
The yellow sticks out strangely against the grey of the stone.

Summary
As a child, Judai ran away from home before his memories were ever wiped and reunited with Yubel in Professor Cobra's care. He promised to never let anything separate them again, and spent his teen years in America as Cobra's second son.
Now in his final year of school, Judai returns to Japan to visit Duel Academia as the West campus's champion. He's got plans to have a good time and help his father make a statement at the central campus with the Disclosure Duel system, but he doesn't know that his spirit partner, still corrupted by the Light of Destruction, has plans of their own - and that several other people's agendas involve him and Yubel, too.
The two partners must let go of old illusions before they can look at each other with clear eyes and meet on the same page.
