“Oh, I’m sorry,” Jack replied, eyebrows raised in mock surprise. He tilted his chin back and looking down the bridge of his nose at Dennis in a way that made him feel a hell of a lot more than two inches taller than the younger man. “Were we still pretending that your little thing for boots isn’t incredibly obvious?”
Dennis laughed awkwardly, trying to ignore the ringing in his ears. Danger. "I, uh, I don't know what you're talking about?"
"I'm talking about the way you always seem more interested in looking down at my shoes when we're out together than looking at my face. The first few times, sure, I could excuse that as early relationship jitters. But consistently over ten months? That's a pattern."
Dennis's cheeks went pink. He could feel his face burning from the back of his neck to the tips of his ears. His eyes flitted around the bedroom, traitorously returning to the line of boots in the open closet again and again.

Jack’s voice cuts through his daydreaming. “Y’know, I always say you’ve never really listened to a band unless you’ve seen them live—” A buzz as his pager goes off. “Shit—gotta go.” He points at Trinity, addressing her as he says, “Stay away from sharp objects, the only time I wanna see you in here is when you’re being paid for it.” As he exits the room, he brushes a hand gently on Dennis’s shoulder, over the soft fabric of Robby’s shirt. “See you around, kid.”
The door shuts softly behind him and Trinity and Dennis both immediately start talking:
“Dr. Abbot’s kind of more of a dick than I thought he was—”
“Do you think it’s fucked up if I think my boyfriend’s best friend is hot—”

So when he was wandering through the dog aisles, doing everything in his power to avoid the 18 year old minimum wage worker, and he stumbled across it, he couldn't help but take a photo of it to send to the group chat with his husband and boyfriend.

Jack shuts up and looks at him expectantly. Okay, here it is. His chance to come clean. His chance to say it’s because there isn't anyone, but I was tired of making you feel bad because of how pathetic I am. There isn't anyone but it’s okay, really, because I'm not sure I even deserve to be loved at this point. And none of them would be you.
“It’s just that it’s still really new. We haven't even really talked about it yet…” Fuck.
aka robby lies about dating someone to make jack stop worrying about him, jack assumes it's dennis because of how robby acts around him, dennis thinks jack and robby are already married because they're clearly in love, and they all figure it out eventually
