Summary
You’re working a shitty job, with shitty people. You have a shitty family, a shitty social life, a shitty apartment, and doing even shittier health wise. The only things that bring you joy are your persian longhair affectionately named Gargaroth The Devourer, and your seemingly never ending list of personal projects. One day a portal opens up, sucking you, Gargaroth, and your binder of notes for all of your projects, into a world filled with magic, monsters, and multiverse mishaps. Apparently you got here because a skeleton monster named Sans was tinkering with a dimension defying machine that sucked you and a bunch of alternate versions of himself and his brother through to his universe. On top of all that, apparently you’re the soulmate of every skeleton who got brought here, including the original pair of brothers…at least your cat is still acting the same.

Summary
The M.A.G.E Project was not considered something you sign up for if everything in life is going great. M.A.G.E Project stood for the Monster Assimilation (and) Genetic Examination Project. The government were trying to integrate monsters, who had only emerged from Mt Ebott a few months ago, into human society but due to their apparently violent nature and their ability to use magic no one was sure if it was safe for them to be around humans. So a test was proposed. For a full year, willing human and monster participants would live in an enclosed society together to not only test if the two species could live together but to also see if magic had any lasting effects on the human participants. Your life wasn't really great so deciding fuck it you sign up to room with two such monsters for the year. Only with your server anxiety and mild depression living with strangers is a lot harder than you first thought it be. The only thing that could possible make it worse is if you found your soulmate while on the experiment.

When every single one of your skeletons started avoiding you, you decided to put your foot down and storm into their mansion in the woods. You slammed the doors open, ready to demand what the hell they were up to in not-so-very-nice words, before you were met with the sight of the foyer swallowed by dark fabrics, dim blue fairylights, and Sans and Papyrus donning…DIY costumes at the end of the hall.
“HUMAN!” Papyrus declared, slamming the end of his spear—cardboard, you noticed because it bent slightly when he hit something—against the floor with dramatic emphasis. “YOU STAND AT THE BEGINNING OF A GRAND JOURNEY!”
Sans nodded.
“big one.” He continued, not very helpfully if you might add.
