Summary
Out of all the assignments Catra could’ve ever wanted for her debut as a photojournalist, this one is the absolute worst. Not only is her subject guaranteed to be the most vapid and self-absorbed person on Earth, it’s a piece on dogs, of all things.
However, Adora, “dog walker to the stars”, isn’t at all what she expected: An oblivious mess, intriguingly beautiful, seemingly disinterested in fame, and utterly terrible at being in charge of dogs.
Catra on the other hand is very good at wielding a leash and giving commands, but it’s Adora who she yearns to have sitting at her feet. Can they stay professional enough to get through this article and not screw up both of their careers in the process?
Or: A plot-driven(ish), eventually romantic, kinky pup play AU where Adora has the personality of a total mess of a golden retriever and Catra is the perfect handler to show her how to be such an obedient good girl.

Summary
The first time Catra sees Adora, it’s a glance of gold in the corner of her eye that brings her mind to the middle of summer and the fields of barley a few miles out the backdoor of her family’s estate. It’s the scent of lilacs that follows their skin like ribbons of silk; Catra feels her own heart thump within her ribcage at the memories of the bunches that hang from the kitchen’s window cill. It’s every way their voice is soft as they take a little breath, as though they’re stunned. Perhaps understandably. Before Adora offers a bemused, “Hi.”
Catra was certain that whatever tapestries they made of this moment in generations to come, it’s the way her eyes drifted to meet Adora’s that would be the very first touch of thread onto that blank canvas.
And it’s tragic. Because, looking as handsome as sin in their white and gold naval accoutre, Adora’s standing before her, and Catra doesn’t even know.

“I’m gonna fucking kill her.” Catra shook her head, trying to wipe the stunned expression off her face. “I can’t believe she set me up on a blind date with a goddamn millionaire.”
“Yeah,” Adora said awkwardly. “Oops.”
“It’s—” Catra shook her head. “Okay, Glimmer aside, how would you paying for my tuition even work? I mean, we—we’ve only been on one date, and it’s not even over yet.”
“It’s a crazy idea,” Adora said. “I know. Just—just forget I said anything.”
Maybe it was the buzz of alcohol, or maybe it was the shock of finding out she was on a blind date with a rich person, but Catra couldn’t stop herself from blurting, “Well, I didn’t say no.”
A beat.
Adora blinked, looking up at her. “What?”
Or: Catra is a physics PhD student struggling to balance life, work, and loans. When her friend sets her up on a blind date, she doesn't expect it to be with the most attractive millionaire she's ever seen. They work out an arrangement.
