Summary
Fear of Abandonment: the overwhelming belief or emotional certainty that connection is temporary, love is conditional, and being left is inevitable. It is the mind and body reacting to possible rejection as if it is already happening, often before the person can separate fear from fact.

Summary
Splitting: the sudden emotional shift from seeing someone as safe, loving, and trustworthy to seeing them as rejecting, uncaring, or unsafe. It often happens when emotional pain becomes too intense for the mind to hold nuance, causing the person to react from fear rather than the full reality of the relationship.

Summary
Her thoughts are as follows: If Subject A (Mel) shows signs of discomfort, Subject B (Frank) will try to help, and vice versa. Therefore, if A is in need of a replacement for an article of clothing, B will do his best to provide A with one.
It’s shaky logic, all things considered, but it’s enough.
All that’s left is for Mel to put her hypothesis to the test.
Or: Mel can’t stop stealing Frank’s clothes. It’s becoming quite the problem.
