In Mavuika’s absence, all Xilonen did was pour every ounce of focus into work. Ignoring the pull in her chest proved difficult; even forging the Traveler’s ancient name hadn’t perturbed her so.
Mavuika had been gone for weeks. A diplomatic summit she grumbled about, a duty required of the “Oh So Generous and Personable Archon of Natlan.” Xilonen had hoarded every bit of affection Mavuika showered her with before then. She hadn’t expected to be so prioritized once they became partners—least of all by someone she routinely enjoyed bullying. Yet another reason to thank Capitano…
Oddly enough, this cardiac tug of labor and longing sent her searing through commissions. Blessing or curse? No idea. Her work was high quality, as always, but the empty stretch in tomorrow’s schedule felt… foreign.
Was she happy about it? Yeah.
