Lady Taziri of House Shiguren was raised among shifting squares, the Fire Nation colonies carved into Earth Kingdom soil. The daughter of a diplomat, she learned early that survival was dependent on position, especially when one cannot command the elements.
so when the war ended, the board simply reset.
To stabilize a fragile peace, she is forced into a political marriage with Fire Lord Zuko as a necessary sacrifice. Arriving not as a bride, but a pawn.
Zuko hates this too. He understands the rules, but not the game,a king placed too early, trying not to become the one who burned the board before him. He knows what political marriages do to people, his mother was testament of that. But the colonies are fracturing, the peace is crumbling, and his advisors are watching.
She plays the long game , He plays honestly. neither is truly wrong, and that is the problem.
but zuko seems to forget that on the board, only position matters.
