The room in front of him dances. The edges of his vision start to disappear, black spots covering up his peripheral. Ben feels tired. He’s lived so long, he’s done just about every drug, tried every type of person on God’s green earth. And from the looks of it, the idiot currently choking him is going to turn the world into even more of a shitshow than it already is. So, instead of struggling, he lets it happen. He doesn’t know if he could beat the kid if he wanted to, but if this is how he dies so be it. As long as it is not the box, he would take true oblivion any day over living forever...
But then his senses clear, he twitches his fingers and forces his heavy eyelids to open. Instead of meeting his maker, or seeing the flickering depths of hell, he blearily recognises a room he hasn’t seen in nearly 50 years.

Soldier Boy wakes from a Soviet freezer with memories of a life he already lived. He returns to Vought Tower, takes control of the Seven as Executive Director, and comes face to face with the son who once put him on ice. Homelander does not know the man dismantling his team is his own father. One of them never learned how to speak, and the other never learned how to let go.
