Summary
Rozanov's so… professional. He's all grown up and not at all like the boy he once was. The polite smile never leaves his face even when he's looking at Shane.
"You are very lucky," Rozanov tells him, "That your concussion is only mild. Seeing me is a not so good thing, okay?"
Shane sighs through his nose, pouts. "Yeah… okay. But… I haven't seen you in a million years. Why are you a doctor now? You should be playing hockey—" He wiggles a little, grins sideways— "With me."

or, after wondering what happened to Ilya after the NHL draft, Shane discovers he's been in Montreal the whole time, and more than that, is an entire doctor instead of the hockey player he should've become.

Summary
In 2015 Ilya Rozanov is injured badly enough that it ends his career. In 2016 his brother and his wife die in a car crash, leaving behind their four year old daughter Maria. Since Ilya is the only remaining relative capable of caring for his niece, he takes her under his wing and tries to raise her to the best of his ability. His situationship with Shane Hollander ended when his career did, but with the little girl now in his care Ilya didn’t have the time to be hung up about it. Mostly.
In 2016 Shane Hollander makes peace with the fact that he will never hear from Ilya Rozanov again. At least that’s what he tells himself.
In 2019, Ilya Rozanov enrolls his niece at a hockey summer camp for kids. Unbeknownst to him, it is the same hockey camp Shane Hollander is set to coach at.
Neither of them expects to ever see the other again. But what happens if they do?

Summary
The truth was, yeah, Shane married Ilya, but he’d married hockey first. He married hockey the second he signed his rookie contract with the Metros, and his courtship began long, long before. And his marriage to hockey wasn’t like his marriage to Ilya. Hockey wouldn’t ever love him back. Ilya wasn’t going to chew Shane up and spit him out at some nebulous point after he turned thirty and before he turned forty, his joints busted and his mouth full of dentures and his brain fucked to hell and back. And that marriage—his first marriage—had always come before his second, illicit shotgun wedding.
It wasn’t ideal, maybe, but that was just how things were. Hell, it was probably the same for Ilya, too. The fuck was Shane supposed to do about it? Nothing, nothing, nothing. He liked his life just the way it was. He didn’t want to do anything different. He still doesn’t. And that’s the worst, most shameful part of it all: at the end of the day, some part of Shane will always wish he could wind back time like adjusting a watch; erase that Instagram post before it ever hit the internet and go back to the life they’d had before; the life that was slowly killing them both.

Summary
“You know, I don’t think we’ve actually said more than five words to each other since, um… since the last time.”
“The last time? I don’t think I remember. I guess it’s been so long.”
Ilya was lying straight through his teeth. He remembered every moment of that afternoon like it was yesterday: remembers the elation of letting the cry of “Shane” pass through his lips and the crack in his voice as he begged “Hollander”. He had been sitting on that couch, with the taste of tuna and cheese stuck to the inside of his mouth and a puddle drying on his stomach, for the last thirteen years. But he couldn’t say that.
He needed Shane to tell him. Needed somebody — the only other person in the world who knows what happened that day — to confirm he wasn’t crazy, that he didn’t imagine the whole thing. That there had been something real, even if just for a millisecond. He needed somebody to tell him back the story he’d been picking apart with a magnifying glass for the better part of two decades.
—
The tuna meltdown was really, truly the end — until a series of unfortunate run-ins force Shane and Ilya to face the memories that have been torturing them for nearly fifteen years, and face each other.
