Summary
Grantaire is a 25 year old, tattoo artist, community college dropout, with a functioning child. He was probably more surprised than anyone else at this turnout.
His physical appearance definitely didn't help, as a 5’6 black man, with multiple tattoos including a left patchwork sleeve, multiple ear piercings, and a nose ring. His main outfits consisted of paint stained graphic tees with ragged jeans and old hiking boots. He didn’t exactly put on the perfect picture of “Father of the Year”. His criminal record wasn't too shabby either, the number of disorderly conduct, DUI’s, and drug charges not something he was entirely proud of. A squeal brought his staring contest with the teacher to an end. A small child barrels straight into Grantaire’s legs, as he grins picking her up, and propping her on his hip.

Quil hadn’t even noticed Embry staring at him as he went about checking the temperature of his skin, but meeting his eyes seemed to hold him, right there in that fleeting second. He thought for a moment, that it felt like drowning. Embry covered the hand that Quil had caressed on his cheek with his own. It was a moment of stillness then, the sound of rain beating down on the roof, the wind against the glass of his bedroom window, Embry leaning in toward him.

Summary
Neil Jostens first year as vice captain begins with a very interesting freshman class. Filled with hypocrites, bigots, and complex personalities trying to find a place in the world, he is once again put in the position of trying to bring the team together while managing consistent harassment and the lurking yakuza.
Jack Iverson, an incoming freshmen at Palmetto State, is a person who embodies self loathing. He is a conflicted teenager grappling with psychological trauma and internalized hatred, someone that would do anything to hide who they really were. He makes a difficult decision to leave behind the comforting yet suffocating life he led in a small town in Mexico, abandoning his "family" and biggest secrets in hopes of outrunning himself. When he comes face to face with the disorienting differences in American morality compared to conservative/cultural Mexican values, he is forced to not only confront who he is, but the consequences of self destructive behavior.
(OC CENTERED)A written out story of my maladaptive take on the new freshmen. This is a character world that has been mentally developed for almost 4 years so apologies if it has plot holes, I haven't thought about his beginning in years.
