Summary
Being in love with Buck wasn’t an option.
It can’t be an option.
Because if it was, Eddie might do something stupid, like kiss his best friend.
Which is—not an option.

“I think you should take Theo.”
The sentence startles Buck out of his spiraling thoughts, causing him to set the cup in his hand down too hard—lukewarm coffee spills onto his hand.
“W—what?”
“You told me that they’ve been having trouble finding his next of kin. I think if they can’t find anyone, if there’s no will declaring who they wanted to take him—I think you should.”or: a conversation set ambiguously during the beginning of s09e18

Summary
Here he is, staring at the last video posted on the account—well over a year ago—it’s not really a video, just a shot of a ceiling with block of text and some song Eddie vaguely recognizes from the radio playing over it.
The first thought he had upon seeing the video, was that he recognizes the shot of the ceiling as the bit just above Buck’s bed in the loft. The second thought he had—and still has—is that Buck is talking about him.

Summary
Buck doesn’t realize his hands are shaking until they get back to the firehouse.
“Are you okay?” Ravi asks as they are exiting the firetruck, his eyebrows furrowed slightly as he glances from Buck’s hands to his face.
“I’m fine, it’s just adrenaline,” Buck lies, absentmindedly clenching his fists in an attempt to make the shaking stop.
Ravi looks for a moment like he wants to say something more, but must ultimately decide against it, as all he does is nod before heading off to presumably change out of his dirt covered uniform.
Buck doesn’t follow after him, feeling rooted to the spot.
He can feel his fingernails digging into the flesh on his palm, feel the tremors behind the skin, but mostly he can feel the silent panic coursing through his veins.

Summary
- [Eddie] Come over.
Two words, so simple, and yet Buck feels as though all the breath has been sucked from his lungs.
Before he even has time to attempt to recover another text comes through.
- [Eddie] Chris is awake. I know it’ll make you feel better to see him.
Buck doesn’t know how to respond to that, doesn’t know how to acknowledge just how achingly true that statement is. Doesn’t know how to touch on his emotions without cracking his heart wide open and spilling everything out.A post 5x06 fic

Summary
“Hey, Diaz? Take it from someone who’s been there — it’s not as scary as you think it’ll be.”
Eddie frowns. He glances at Buck, as if Buck has any idea what Tommy is talking about. “What’s not?”
“I like to think I’m uniquely positioned to say it’s worth it.”
Or, Buck is not in love with his best friend, and Eddie is super straight. For sure. Definitely.

“I know I wasn’t a good parent, emotionally. But I wasn’t as bad as him, though, Buck, please - I didn’t drink or hurt either of you -”
Philip’s expression is shocked, like he never considered what responsibility he had for what Maddie went through. It makes Buck feel a familiar roiling anger in his gut.
“No, you just drove her to someone who did!” He stares at his father, furiously. Then, he’s just tired, suddenly. “And I hurt myself for you.”

In the wake of the events of Nashville and Buck's detoxing, Philip Buckley sets out to do something that's been harder every year he hasn't done it: actually try to understand his son, and explain how he became the person he was, and maybe gain some calvary in the shadow of his's son's better, now-departed father figure.

Summary
Eddie hits his shoulder harder this time. "That's it!"
"What is?" Buck repeats his question from before, rubbing his shoulder like the movement hurt him —it didn't, Eddie is sure.
"You'll go with me! Like, you can act like you're my couple".
Buck looks at him, untethered before cracking the loudest laugh of the night.
"What's so funny?" Eddie asks with a half-showing smile as Buck keeps laughing and although he didn't mean to, he's happy to see him joyful again.
"Oh, you're being serious". He stops laughing slowly, shaking his head, showing that he's not really believing anything that his friend says. "What do you want us to do? To pretend we're together like in some teenage romcom?"
OR
Eddie has an empty plus one for a destination wedding. Not wanting to meet his entire family by himself and being setted up, Buck and he make a deal: Buck can pretend to be his boyfriend and he would help him to get his happy ending after.
Eddie doesn't expect how loud his mind gets when he's alone with Buck, in a nice beach, while the lines of their friendship are blurred. -
