Vito's got a shake to his hands ever since he came back from serving. World War II seemed to have some sort of impact on him that Joe couldn't quite understand.

Emmanuelle's got her hands pressed tight, shoving the gauze as tight as she can. Her face is pained and Gustave begins to wonder how they'll all handle each other without him there to heal them. He can hear someone shouting nearby in hurried French. It's as loud as can be. It gets even louder as his eyes begin to close.
—
or Doc is benched (by force). doc-centric fic with some loose pining in it.

Summary
The rookies are a pain. She hates them.
She hates Hal Jordan’s crooked smile and the tributes to his shitty father on his helmet. Bruce Wayne is a stupid little annoying American who sprays the champagne too much on Minhkhoa Khan over on her, the real winner. Khoa is much the same as her complaints of Bruce. Ted Kord is annoyingly anxious. Dinah Drake may be the only one she can speak to, but the little thing cannot leave her mother’s shadow one bit.
Diana Themyscira is a different kind of pain.
—
or sometimes a team favors the rookie. Barbara learns it the hard way.

Summary
She has her makeup done, her hair tastefully pinned back, and she feels hideous. She wants to be that harpy again. That angry beast that could kill any human in this diner. Strip off their skin the way her father taught her once when they went hunting because she begged for it. He told her it wasn't a feminine activity. She had cried and cried until he gave in. He never took her again when she seemed to be too into the activity.
She eats her stack of pancakes with her claws and the waitress gets a tip of $120 for ignoring Betty in the corner. It's the nicest meal she's had since before she met Bruce Banner.
—
or Betty is better off as the harpy, at least in her eyes

Summary
"People change, I guess," she says. "It's how time works."
"I think it's more that perspective shifts," he confides. "The core of who you are doesn't change, even with time."Time and memory are intertwined as one; history repeats/repeats/repeats in a pattern, a loop - and eventually all patterns must come to an end.

Summary
Andrew Kreiss was content; To his (mostly) quiet job at the graveyard, with his few friends, with the simplicity in how little he had. Any desire for something more was beyond his reach- Or, it was until that letter found his way into his hands. Though, maybe it'd be for the best if he never found it in the first place. That 'family' takes and takes, only giving enough to keep you in until you have no way out.
That's how organized crime works. Or, that's how Andrew is slowly learning it does.
_____
It's been months since the disappearance of Henry Behamfil. Martha has worked tirelessly every day since, hoping to bring him home with no hope in sight. It's not long until Martha finds herself swept into the conspiracy that has been pulling her life apart from under her eyes. One that threatens the lives of her new clients, who may have flown too close to the sun in search of a better life.
That's how organized crime works. Or, that is how Martha always knew it had.
