The Sheriff looks at his watch. Again.
Stiles is still not home. It’s four am.
“Come on, kid,” he grumbles to himself, thinking through his triage plans for just this situation. His first point of order in all plans is to call Scott.
He doesn’t want to call Scott. If he calls Scott, he’s going to wake up Scott, and if Stiles isn’t with Scott, then Scott is going to be involved.
Scott is not subtle. Bricks to the face are more subtle than Scott. The Sheriff maybe needs a bit more subtlety than Scott right now.

“Come on,” he tells Henry. He pulls Henry’s arm over his shoulder, Alex acting as a human crutch.
“What are you doing?” Henry asks him, trying to pull his arm back.
“Saving your life, you idiot.”
“I don’t need you to save my life-” He pushes Alex away from him, takes two steps, and lands in the dirt on his face.
“Sure, you don’t need me. Got it.” Alex rolls his eyes then leans down to help Henry stand up.

Where in Alex is a grunt in the US Army, Henry is an RAF fighter pilot, and they meet behind enemy lines in France, in 1944. The world will never be the same.

James’ cheek stings, hot and aching. He licks his lower lip, catching a drop of blood before it could drip down his chin.
“What were you thinking?” His father says, towering over him, standing when he’d ordered James to sit. Crass, basic intimidation.
It’s working.
“Father,” James starts, his voice cracking in the middle of the word.
“Your Majesty is appropriate here, I believe,” his father says, and James’ stomach drops even further.
“Your Majesty,” he starts again. “I thought it was a…” He tries to come up with a phrase that would satisfy his father without lying. His father can always tell when he’s lying. He doesn’t want to have to hide more than just his split lip. “A dalliance,” he finally croaks out.

There's a reason why King James III makes that face before he turns back to his grandson. It's not disappointment or lack of understanding. On the contrary, he knows exactly how Henry feels, maybe a bit too much.
