It really can't be anything other than ironic when the poison becomes the medicine, but even prescriptions got schedules and oopsies thereof, so housecall phlebotomy can't be that out of the ordinary. Certainly can't hurt for someone lacking half a high school education to pick up on skills befitting that of medical students without any of the debt weighing down their shoulders. Even if he's lacking textbooks too, knowledge is still knowing. It's why Tomura's grown to trust all he does and the methods he chooses. But he probably trusted him already 'cause he knew Dabi wouldn't dare damage something Tomura holds close enough to share a closet with.
That's someone, the itty-bitty bossman on his shoulder huffs. But Dabi's been getting better with that lately too-- not even because of Tomura. Sometimes you just gotta make peace with what you're always poking into just to stay alive. Sometimes you gotta let the thing that's got you living in the first place be recognized as something worth living in.

Summary
Summer leaving its wet and disconcerted footsteps smudged along the windowpane should probably feel relieving, but Dabi knows better than to believe that as grace by now. He can hate that heat all he wants but the opposite isn't any greener, not at all, and it's not like his body knows the difference. He wishes there was a something in a baggie to dim that too, something other than what calmly pats the trembling head of his central nervous system, but even that has run dry.

And Tomura digs until the dirt underneath his nails is indistinguishable from his body. He knows what it’s like to be muddy. Those talons are wiped clean of everything; polished, touched kindly. Tomura finds that care nowhere except his dwindling party, the same ones that long for a tenderness he can’t begin to remember. It’s unfair.
It’s unfair and, worse, he’s convinced himself that his pursuit is righteous. Some sense of salvation soon to be met, but there’s nothing coming his way—not for all the ‘good’ he’s caused. Not for his shitty, pristine teeth and pure perfection, “good dog! now sit.” What does it matter, why must we all care? Because he’s made his issues ours, sunk his nails deep into the skin of others because when has a hero ever held themselves accountable for their own actions? When has anyone ever cared about everyone?
