Summary
‘Hi.’
Eddie flinches hard, tries to back up but he’s already pressed into the wall so he just sort of bangs his head. ‘Ow, hi, hello, um, sorry.’
It’s Steve.
Steve Harrington is standing in front of him.
Eddie reverts back to a single celled organism.
‘Sorry for what?’
‘Sorry?’
Steve blinks, gives a little smile. ‘My bad, start again?’
‘S-sorry?’
Eddie would actually rather be a single celled organism.

It's completely ridiculous how amazing this is. And that line! Oof.

Summary
"You tired of commitment?" Eddie asked, but what he really thought was that Steve must still be hung up on her. Nancy Wheeler.
"All I've ever wanted is commitment," Steve answered, and the seriousness in his tone felt like a bucket of cold water. This was a soft spot, a sensitive topic. Eddie hadn't meant to push at Steve’s buttons, not for real.
He pushed at Steve's knee again, a cautious attempt at comfort, then leaned back on the couch.
"We don't always get what we want, I suppose." And wasn't that just a little too close to home?
"Sometimes we do, though."
Or: When Steve's short on cash for weed, Eddie comes up with a trade.

Where did this come from? I've read this whole fandom and suddenly there it was, and they were brand new to me all over again.

Summary
Sometimes it was miles and miles of bumfuck nowhere, and sometimes the views even on the highway were gorgeous. Steve was driving, so Eddie had his book open in his lap but he wasn’t looking at it, was gazing ahead, or sometimes out the window, or sometimes at Steve. Steve’s stupid shades, despite the un-bright day, and his wilting hair, which Eddie watched him style every morning. They’d been singing ‘Country Road’ over and over again, and it still wasn’t getting old. Just to belt out of nowhere, the other joining in straight away. Any line of the song.

Summary
Ever since Eddie was a kid, he's known that he would die at nineteen. He never really came up with a plan for how to spend his last year. But if he'd had to guess, it would have involved spending lots of time with Wayne, and his band, and the Hellfire Club.
He certainly couldn't predict that he'd fall in love with Steve Harrington over a summer of early morning swims and smashing shit in the junkyard. Or the whole monster fighting thing.
(Or: Eddie and Steve navigate a little-to-the-left world where technology exists to predict the age a person will be when they die. Don't worry, no one stays dead.)

A really creative setup done especially well. I wish there were more!
