    Summary

It began, or rather continued because nothing ever truly ends or begins, with a man who grew old but didn’t age. He was standing in a building that wasn’t ever built and looked out to a world that would never turn.

    Summary

“I promise.” Shane frowns for a moment. Maybe he sees the look on Ryan’s face, because something in his own expression clears. “In fact, let’s make an oath. I swear to never abandon you, Bergara. You’ve got me hooked, goddamn. I don’t know how you’ve done it.”

For one, fleeting moment, Ryan wants to kiss Shane right there in the front yard of this random suburban home. He wants it so much that it terrifies him, and the thought of wanting something so unattainable is such a familiar feeling it’s like it’s never left him. Like his mind is a haunted house where the spirits of “what if” and “maybe” roam the halls and wake him up at night.

“I swear too, big guy,” he manages. “I… yeah. I’m gonna stick around for a while.”

Or, When Ryan puts an ad in the newspaper for a room to rent, he doesn't mention the ghosts. What he ends up with is more than he could ever have bargained for.

    Summary

“I thought I imagined it,” Ryan says eventually, still looking at the other side of the woods. “I had to know.”

For a moment, there’s nothing but the wind in the trees. And then he hears the low growl that’s haunted his every passing thought for days. The creature creeps closer, a rumbling noise following the growl. It sounds threatening, but also confused.

“Know what?” it hisses, close enough that Ryan can feel when it speaks, and then he turns around.

He turns around, looks up into those piercing eyes, and says: “I had to know why you didn’t kill me.”

Or, Ryan moves to Michigan to find himself again, and ends up finding more than he could have ever bargained for.

This fic? The amount of emotions I am currently feeling is unparalleled. My stomach *physically hurts* from the amount of emotions I was displaying while reading this fic. I still have not recovered. I had some atmospheric music on and just read this all one one sitting and I"M STILL PROCESSING. THIS FIC IS SO GOOD, FUCK DUDE.

This is the series of my childhood (aka 13 year old me). I lived and breathed this series, I still remember getting so excited about updates and the release of the next book. Sad to see it was never finished but it's still an important part of my childhood and set my expectations for how I wanted Demon Dean depicted in my fanfiction. Brilliant pieces.
