Summary
After the death of his beloved sister Jiang Yanli, Jiang Cheng embarks on a career as a food critic, unconsciously trying to find in the dishes he tastes that flavor that only she could give. His severity and fame spread quickly throughout China, making him a respected and feared figure in haute cuisine. But despite his reputation, Jiang Cheng is never satisfied: every dish he reviews seems to lack that special ingredient that his sister infused into her meals, a quality he can never replicate. "Can a dish bring back what has been lost?" this search pushes him further and further away from the home he once knew.
Lan Xichen, a talented chef and owner of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Suzhou, is renowned for his elegant, minimalist cuisine, transforming traditional Chinese flavors into modern works of art. Despite success and fame, Lan Xichen asks himself: "How much of ourselves can we put on a plate to make ourselves understood?". His cuisine is an expression of himself, but it doesn't always find the recognition he seeks, especially from critics like Jiang Cheng.
Their meeting becomes a mutual challenge, where each tries to answer the other question: can a dish truly express what it carries inside?

Summary
It was a well known fact that Sect Leader Yu was a practitioner of powerful magic. It wasn't Demonic Cultivation, but it wasn't natural either. Her abilities were said to be twisted and monstrous. Either way, it didn’t fare well for Jiang Cheng. There was no doubt in his mind that she could literally do anything to him.
The sound of her footsteps echoed in his ears as she started towards him, crossing the few steps that stood between them. Raising a hand, she reached out to take his face into her hands, forcing him to meet her cold gaze that was so much like his mother’s that it gave him goosebumps.
“You will give this sect an heir,” she ordered. “If not through a wife, then I will have you bear an heir yourself.”

Summary
“Are you soldiers forbidden to speak too? That should be a crime,” apparently, the guy makes a lot of bad jokes. He looks around a bit more, and scans Lan Wangji’s entire body from head to toe, lingering a little on his face. Finally, he sighs and turns away.
"Right. So, I’m gonna go,” he turns his head so he can wink at the other. How daring! "See you later, soldier who doesn’t speak."
When the boy finally disappears from sight, the soldier swallows hard, letting out the breath he didn't even know he was holding. How inconvenient. Thankfully, he's already gone, and after being ignored, he's clearly not coming back.
Except that Lan Wangji’s assumption is completely wrong.

Someone was petting him, whilst he was asleep on their lap. Something he had experienced only when he was tiny, cradled safely on his Shijie’s lap, as she pet his hair until he fell asleep. Such unbridled affection was shown to him only until he was grown enough to barely form memories, and with that, he couldn’t help but groan softly. “Wanyin” a voice, a deeper one, that could no way be his Shijie’s, whispered above him.
His body went rigid, but the hands, the soft fingers did not move away from his forehead. He opened his eyes and saw. The fire had burned to soft soothing embers and was lighting the face of the man he was cradled upon. His heart stopped, as he saw Lan Xichen smile down at him, his face almost sparkling with the warmth his eyes held. All directed at him, towards him. He didn’t raise, but his arm did. He let them move up and touch. A palm reaching to cup the face of the man he had wanted to touch for so long
“Lan Huan”.
“Wanyin”Lan Xichen breathed, eyes closing involuntarily, and sighing as he leaned into the touch; like he welcomed it, wanted it.
He let his thumb graze sharp cheekbones, fingers gently wrapping around the most beautiful neck he had ever seen in his existence. -

Summary

Summary
While Wei Wuxian is turning around the Jingshi with glee, clearly delighted with the fact that his invention works, a whirlwind has started to appear around Jiang Cheng, and Jiang Cheng is not liking this at all.
“Wei Wuxian, make it stop,” he orders, effectively bringing Wei Wuxian to turn around to him and Jiang Cheng knows he’s fucked when Wei Wuxian’s eyes go wide.
“Oh no,” is the last thing Jiang Cheng hears, before everything goes dark.
When Jiang Cheng opens his eyes, he’s still in the Jingshi but that's the only positive thing Jiang Cheng can say.
Especially when Lan Wangji calls him Lan Wanyin.

Summary
The spiral of his thoughts drained him further. The fire of determination had been snuffed out within him and Jiang Wanyin was out of reasons to keep on fighting. As he lay down on his bed, he dreamt of life without all of these feelings he had struggled all his life. He wanted to get away from himself and from how draining his life was. But he knew he couldn’t do that if he kept surrounding himself with the people and places that reminded him of those feelings.
Here, in Lotus Pier, the memories of his inadequacy in so many ways suffocated him slowly and constantly throughout his life. All his life, he had been drowning. Eventually, he knew he would stop struggling to stay afloat and just let the water swallow him.
This place was going to kill him.

Wei Ying: "Good morning! It's my wedding day! I'm so nervous! I have, like, so many expectations, you know? And at the same time, I have no idea what to expect. I mean, by the end of the day, I'm going to be married, and I have no clue who I'm even marrying." (Pause. Wei Ying licks his lips nervously, smile dropping off a little bit.) "What if he doesn't like me? What if I'm a disappointment? I mean, listen, I know I'm a catch, but you just never know, do you? And what if he's a disappointment? What then?"

A post-canon Xicheng fic.
…"You wish to know why the boggart yao did not take on a form when it faced me?" he asks. "What should I have left to be afraid of, I wonder? Losing my parents, my siblings, my home? The shidis and shimeis I grew up with? Or should I fear failing my duty to my sect by remaining unmarried and heirless? Perhaps I should be scared of failing those I love the most."
He risks a glance towards Wei Wuxian and Jin Ling, and instantly regrets it. Wei Wuxian is in tears, and his nephew doesn't look a whole lot better. Breathing in deeply, Jiang Cheng looks at Lan Xichen instead, drawing strength from the steadiness of his presence.
"What form could a boggart yao take for me," he finishes, "when everything I ever feared has already come to pass?"

Jiang Cheng is infamous for his ludicrous, sky-high requirement for potential wives. Nobody could possibly fulfill his list apart from Lan XiChen, but he is DEFINITELY out of the question… right?
A sweet, [relatively] uncomplicated happy ending for Jiang Cheng and Lan XiChen, as they share many ‘firsts’ together. Eventual very graphic sex, 100% true to book set-up, very sweet plot, original character traits, almost no angst - plus Wei WuXian figuratively and literally saving Jiang Cheng’s ass, yet again.

Summary
Jiang Cheng didn't know where he got that gift: he remembered identifying people as alphas and omegas by the colors he could see since he was little, even though he wasn't old enough to really tell them apart yet. As Jiang Cheng grew older, he eventually learned to better control this particular talent, yet he never thought that one day he would use it, even unintentionally, to uncover someone's lies.
