Summary
When Thorin dies in Bilbo's arms, Bilbo decides to retreat back to the Shire and leave his new life behind in the hopes of pretending none of this ever happened. Unfortunately, Bilbo is pregnant, and he never got around to telling anyone in the chaos of Thorin's madness. He finds that the Shire is far different than he remembers, or perhaps he has changed more than he thought, and raising a baby on his own while he has become something of a pariah is harder than he expected. Then, one day, very familiar dwarves show up on his doorstep, and reveal that Thorin was never actually dead. Now Bilbo is forced to come to terms with potentially reuniting with a love he thought he'd loss with a toddler who has no idea he even has another father. For the third time in a handful of years, Bilbo must decide whether or not to make the long journey across the horizon, and if he goes, is he willing to fight to regain what he lost?

However, everything changed when imperial soldiers came to her town and conscripted her elderly father into the military. She knew that with his injury from the last time he fought, he would never survive another war. So she snuck out in the dead of night, bought a horse, and joined the army in his place. She had no dreams of becoming a war hero, only surviving long enough to return home, but the reality of war is much more intense than she ever could have imagined. The person she was and the person she claims to be are warring in her mind, and the devastatingly attractive captain of her troop can't seem to keep his eyes off her.

Summary
A classic Hobbit fix-it fic where everyone lives.
After surviving the journey, and then the dragon, and then the battle, Bilbo is faced with his most difficult challenge yet: getting that stubborn dwarf king Thorin Oakenshield to speak to him. Thorin nearly died in Bilbo's arms, but now it seems that the new king feels exactly the same about him as he did on the ramparts.
Meanwhile, Thorin can't bring himself to face the poor hobbit he has so terribly mistreated. He can't bear to look into the eyes of the only one he will ever love and know that Bilbo will never forgive him for what he has done.
But Bilbo didn't come this far to let some pigheaded dwarf send him back home without so much as a goodbye. -
