Summary
“Nick,” Karl calls after him. He is following right behind Sapnap, chasing him down despite Sapnap’s speedwalking. Theodora’s hand is wrapped tightly in his as he makes every step that Sapnap takes.
Sapnap slows down until he finally decides to stop. Why is Karl not letting him leave? He turns around and pushes his sunglasses up again. His green eyes meet with Karl’s bright blue ones, and suddenly it's like he’s the palm tree on land and Karl is the sea. They are so close, connected despite not directly touching, and still so far away from one another. As he looks in Karl’s eyes, he sees the younger version that he once loved. He made a promise with him once, and as he looks into his eyes now, he knows he would start all over again if he could.
OR: Ten years after their breakup, Sapnap discovers Karl Jacobs in Florida through helping a little girl find her father. He's going to make the right choice and leave them be, but it seems impossible when everything is telling him they are meant to be in each other's lives.
