Day 7: Soulmate AU and Weapons
"Who's that?" Dream heard Sapnap ask from the driver's seat.
"Bad, Sap, meet Goggles," Dream sighed. "World-class sniper, asshole criminal, and my soulmate. Apparently."
"What?" Dream heard his two teammates exclaim.
"You still have me on your file as codename Goggles?" George snickered. "Tell me you can't hunt down a sniper without telling me you can't hunt down a sniper," George mumbled sarcastically.
"Yeah okay," Dream rolled his eyes before loading his gun and shooting it in George's direction again.
The rules were very easy. Simply put, soulmates are not able to physically harm each other. Not fatally anyway. No punching, no hitting, no weapons as well including knives, guns, not even a baseball bat. Rules are still unclear about second-hand injuries like drowning and tripping, you know, convenient accidents.
Most of the time, this works out very well for people. You wouldn't want to fatally harm your soulmates.
But then again, most people weren't snipers whose soulmates are special agents that are out to get them.

“You see, the king is the most powerful person on the board. He rarely moves, but when he does, it comes with great danger. Still, his choices lead the group to victory, that's why he's the most important piece.”
Dream smiles at him, soft and shy, “But even in the end, you basically lose the game without the queen.”
He doesn’t need to know the innuendos, he doesn’t need to know all the double layered meaning to it. George knows Dream too well, his heart too open, he says the words before they even leave his mouth.
“So, you’re the queen now?” George says, fiddling with the king in his hand.
“As long as you’re the king, of course.” Dream chides, looking down at the board,
“Does that mean you protect me now?” George smiles, impish and coy. He spins the piece in his hand.
Dream looks back up. “For as long as you’re King. I’ll be your Queen for as long as you want me to be.”

Summary
Though no one knows how or why, at midnight on a person’s 16th birthday, they get writing on their wrist, almost like a tattoo. This writing, whatever it says, has something to do with your soulmate. It’s usually something like the first thing they say to you after it appears, or an inside joke you two will have, maybe a phrase they say a lot. Simply a push in the right direction, fate’s little nudge-nudge wink-wink about what future you have in store.
