Summary
There’s a long-standing curse over the F1 grid, one that everyone knows of and which could happen to anyone. Not anything that would stop a race - but things that would be an inconvenience.
Or: Max is cursed with cat ears and a tail and tries (not very hard) to not make it everyone’s business. Mostly, he is just very embarrassed by the tail which seems to have its own mind.

Joris sits down on the edge of Charles' bed. "So I guess Max finally asked you out?"
"He did," Charles sighs.
"And why are we acting like that's a bad thing? I thought you wanted to go out with him?"
"He's taking me to Les Rois, Jojo. Les Rois."
“I know,” Joris frowns, clearly confused about Charles’ tone of voice. “I told him to take you there.”
"What?" Charles yells, throwing the sweater he just saved from Leo's teeth in his friend's face. "Why would you do that?"
Joris stutters as the sweater hits him. He catches it in his hands before it falls back to the floor. "You like that place!"
"Yeah, I like going there with my maman. Not on a first date. Especially not on a first date with Max," Charles groans. He falls back onto the pile of clothes and sighs deeply. "Les Rois is way too fancy."
OR
Charles and Max's first date doesn't go the way it was originally planned, but it ends up exactly the way it was planned.

Charles purses his lips for a moment before he snatches his boyfriend’s phone up from the other side of the table.
“What are you doing?”
“Initiating Mission Landoscar.”
“Did you just make that up?”
Charles waves at him dismissively as he begins texting, and Max lays his head down on the coffee table and prays for strength.

In which Max tries to prove to an oblivious Charles how glaringly obvious it is that Lando is head over heels in love with Oscar. When Charles finally gets with the program, Lestappen go on A Mission™ to get the two idiots to admit their feelings for each-other, but it’s easier said than done.

“What do you think?” Charles asks, leaning back into the seat as he turns the laptop so Max can see the options.
“I think—” Max starts, “—that this can wait until after FP1.”
Charles’s lips curl downwards, and Max wants to kiss the look off his face. “There’s still like an hour until it starts. There’s no one even looking for me yet.”
That's a lie and they both know it—Charles’s phone had been going off like crazy until Charles pressed do not disturb and continued with his rant on why Kirgizstan is not an acceptable summer vacation destination, what the actual fuck Max.
