Summary
Phosphophyllite—an aggregate of crystal, shell, gold, stone, and pearl—remembers being on Earth. They remember relishing in the destruction of all the gems, remember facing off with Cinnabar who betrayed them for a machine. Even though this is the case, when they awaken after that fight, they have woken up as the Phos from three hundred years ago. The Phos who had not yet lost themself nor anyone else.
Still, they can't seem to forget.

Before her vision fades, her eyes focus on a pair of yellow eyes glaring at her from a storm drain. A rat scurries out of the shadows, and she hears a woman's soft voice in her head.
"I can save you. Give your body to me."

Summary
The Wild and the Apotheosis are two of the strongest vessels, they can break the construct. When the Shifting Mound is a bit late on retrieving her gift of a Tender Heart, the Nightmare grows to receive this strength, too.
But all she knows is how to hurt…
And so she does. She breaks the Long Quiet. Not mentally, or spiritually, or even just his will. She breaks him in a terrible, pragmatic way.
Like the Sleeping Mound, they can hope to rebuild him from the Paranoid voice that survives. Together, the Paranoid and the Nightmare must bring Voices to the Long Quiet, and Vessels to the Shifting Mound.
Hilarity ensues.

Summary

Those are the last words Guinevere hears before she throws herself off of the veranda for the second, third, fourth…one-thousandth time. She doesn’t necessarily understand what it means to ‘love’ or be ‘loved,’ considering she’s nothing more than an android constructed from metal parts and synthetic plastic. It wasn’t what she was programmed for.
