There’s something really beautiful that happens in an empty room. You begin to take it apart, abstracting your senses until they’re just different layers of the same canvas. You begin to listen to the sounds—the hum of the electricity, the creaking of the floor underneath your feet, your own heartbeat—the sights—the colours where the walls meet the floor, the shadows the light makes. You begin to consider the space itself as something to protect. You begin to feel the need to protect it, to keep your fingers soft and undisturbing as you move inside it.
In the way that you exist, your body is an extension of the room.

Summary
Heath is outside the elevator door when it fully opens. Shino can nearly see the path he’s worn onto the floor. He rushes into the elevator and twines his hand against Shino’s wrist. “Shino!” he says, instinctual, clearly frazzled. “There you are! Where were—” A second later, he jolts, eyes tipping sideways as if he hadn’t noticed Arthur at all.
Heath pauses as he fully registers the sight in front of him—the two of them limping and bloody.
“Good evening, Heathcliff,” Arthur says, on the edge of a wide grin, before Heath can fully begin to work his mouth around whatever he thinks he should say next. Shino laughs, leaning into him with the motion. “Is dinner ready yet? I heard Nero was making stew.”
