All Ed wanted to do was read some goddamn alchemy books. How was he supposed to know it would've ended up like this, what kind of person Tucker was? He'd just wanted to help his brother and now he wasn't sure his brother would ever know it was him again.

No one was coming for him and he could never escape on his own He'd learned that a long time ago. He knew all too well he'd never be free. He'd die in his little prison, he was sure of it. That is, until he met the little girl with white hair and red eyes who gave his life meaning again.

Rather than discard his civility, it appeared that Fire Lord Zuko weaponized it. Jian felt his respect for the boy grow as he observed his response to Admiral Lei’s continual and blatant disrespect.
“What would you do if I asked you to bring your son here to learn a certain lesson?” The Fire Lord let curiosity coat his words, vague and distant as if he did not truly care for the admiral’s answer.
If the room had been tense before, it was nothing compared to how tense it turned after everyone registered the implications of those words.
