Seungmin turns to him, looks into his eyes. “Listen, Jeongin.”
“Yeah?” There is a weird hint of hope in Jeongin’s voice, and Seungmin hates himself for latching onto it, even just for a second.
He swallows it down, lowering his voice. “We had fun. It was fun, for one night. It was good, right?” Seungmin allows himself the little kick of his heart, when Jeongin nods with red ears. “Right. Cool. Then that was that. No one has to know. Now we’re working together, and we’ll keep it professional, yeah? We’re coworkers now. That’s it.”
Seungmin prides himself in keeping personal and professional matters separate. Call it compartmentalizing, sure. It’s a set of rules he abides to religiously, and he doesn’t want to start going against them anytime soon. That is, until Jeongin comes, and blurs the lines he set for himself.

“Hey, do you think Prof Hwang actually has a crush on Prof Kim?” Jinsol whispers to Jiwoo as their professor pulls up their slides. Having given up on conquering the reading in time, it seems like her attention has been diverted to other matters. Their other friend, Lily, is more than happy to provide her input.
“I mean there’s definitely good feelings between the two.” Lily says as if she had been waiting to voice this out the whole semester. Jiwoo continues taking her notes; she actually has to do well in this class. “But I don’t know, do you think it’s really possible?”

In the halls of university, students are bound to gossip and giggle and speculate about love between faculty and peers alike. Jiwoo, despite not subscribing to that past time, somehow ends up in the peculiar position of noticing too many coincidences between Professor Hwang Hyunjin of the Arts department and Professor Kim Seungmin of the Humanities Department.
