Andy sighed and tapped his fingers against the steering wheel, clearing his throat. “Any questions so far, Captain?”
She raised a brow at him. “Do I have any questions about sitting quietly in a car and staring at a house?”
Okay, well, sure it sounded stupid when she said it like that. He scowled, irritation and embarrassment flaring. “Well, it’s probably been a while since you actually did boots-on-the-ground police work, right? Happy to give you any refreshers on the basics.”
Her look went positively frosty. “Oh, yes, Lieutenant,” she said, voice saccharine and stressing his lower rank. “Please educate me on the finer points of surveillance. I’m oh so very new to police work.” Her eyelashes fluttered in a way that he quite frankly found threatening.
