Summary
The war is over, but nobody seems to know what comes next.
Sokka takes a position as the Southern Water Tribe’s ambassador to the Fire Nation hoping for a change of pace and maybe a chance to finally feel useful again. Instead, he ends up tangled in political disasters, trade negotiations, and Fire Lord Zuko’s increasingly concerning sleep schedule.
Zuko is trying to rebuild a nation the world still doesn’t trust. Sokka is trying not to lose his mind in a palace full of people who take everything way too seriously.
Unfortunately for both of them, they keep becoming each other’s favorite person to be around.

Summary
He closes in, and Carmen stares straight forward, does not flinch.
“Christ, mate, that’s really bad. I’ll get you patched up for now, but that might even be an ER after service.”
Carmy squeezes his eyes shut as Luca tries to cradle his hand.
He flinches back, “Oh, sorry did I do something?”
“No. Sorry, I’m good, Chef,” he says and looks forward.
“Did I hurt it?”
“No, Chef.”
The salt or lemon juice is coming any second now.

Carmy is losing momentum post-season 4. He hasn’t been sleeping, and he grips a boiling pot. It reminds him of leaving Empire.

Summary
After the walk-in debacle on Friends and Family night, Carmy is trying to make up for his mistakes by pushing himself to be better. But between the voice in his head telling him he’s worthless, his own wholehearted belief in everything that voice is saying, and his desperation to not let anyone see that there’s something severely wrong with him, things are going to shit fast — so when the hospital calls to inform him that his mother’s been in an accident and is going to need a caretaker for a while, Carmy takes the chance to do something right for once. It’ll be fine. He can handle it, and it’ll be fine.
He cannot handle it, and it isn’t fine. One night at Donna’s, everything goes catastrophically to shit and Carmy’s left with an open, bleeding wound in his hand and the suffocating realization that nobody’s coming to save him. But the people who love him are nothing if not determined to prove him wrong. They’re going to get him out of that house. They’re going to be there as his hand heals. They’re going to hug him, and cook for him, and remind him how it feels to laugh. And whenever he begins to believe that he doesn’t deserve any of it, they’ll be there to prove just how much he matters to them.

Summary
He flinches and heaves and bites down a groan. His eyes are squeezed shut, brows crunching into one tight point in his head. Don’t make a fucking sound. His head’s going to burst.
“Sit up for a second. Should take your temperature.”
He shakes his head slightly against his arms, and the horizon definitely does flip, and he quietly chokes on liquid.
He tries to speak, has to clear his throat, and can’t imagine it did much when he rasps, “Sorry. I’m-I’m sorry. You don’t have to do anything for me.”
-
Carmy is so deeply ashamed to be sick in front of anyone, not to mention Syd who’s treating him so kindly.

Summary
Where his friend’s curls should have been on the pillow there was a shock of black hair. Instead of Roz’s familiar features he was looking at a face full of freckles, a face that he recognized easily as they had been playing against each other only hours earlier.
