Already from afar Chris saw a brown car with someone leaning back against the hood. So he pulled over before hopping out of the driver’s seat, slowly approaching. “Leon?” he asked, hoping that things wouldn’t be too awkward with them. It had been literally ten years since they’d last seen each other, and the quick message from the previous year hardly counted, either.
“Chris?” Leon straightened from where he’d been leaning on the hood, turning to face Chris properly. Immediately a bright smile spread on his face and he looked genuinely delighted to see Chris again, and not only because he was there to save him from this pinch. “So good to see you! You’ve…” Leon trailed off, giving Chris an obvious once-over, his eyes trailing down all the way to Chris’ boots and back up again. Then he shrugged, chuckling as he went on. “You’ve grown. Not a gangly sixteen-year-old anymore, eh?”
