Summary
“If I gave Jackie a day of getting to have sex with me whenever she wants as a thank you for tidying the living room, I think she’d divorce me,” Hayden says.
“Nah, man, she’d kill you,” J. J. says, which is probably true.
Shane shrugs. “That sounds like a straight people problem.”
Hayden is truly glad that the times of Shane torturing himself by being in the closet are over. But. Well. This conversation is kind of making him miss those days.
---
Finally, after everything, Shane is a happily married man. Incredibly happily married. It only becomes a problem once he thinks it qualifies him to dispense relationship advice.
Or, five times Shane gives relationship advice his friends disagree with, and one time he doesn’t.

Entertaining wish fulfillment story. I've always wanted this to happen IRL.

“I want—I think we can do more. To… prepare the hockey world. So it isn’t so…”
“Surprising?” David offered into Yuna’s pause.
“So surprising,” she agreed. “If people could just see them together, they’d understand,” she added, warmth colouring her voice.
“The youths,” said David as he thought of the latest intern at work, “call that a soft launch.”

Summary
“I was trying to be cool about it.” The confession is a quiet whine, muffled into Shane's palms. “Go with the flow, y’know?”
It’s almost unbearable, how much Ilya adores this perfect, neurotic man. “Hollander,” he says patiently. “You have never once gone with flow. Not ever in your life.”
There is only one grey cloud in the perfect blue sky of Ilya’s summer.
His two weeks at the cottage are almost over, and Shane still hasn’t asked him to stay.

Lovely and thoughtful and bittersweet in all that particular post-cottage way.

Summary
Before Felix could remove his headphones, he heard it. Heavy, borderline panicked breaths. Felix realized that it must be Hollander. His mic was not turned off when he left the interview. Footsteps. And then a door opening and closing. They had filmed the interview that morning at the offices of the Irina Foundation. It sounded like maybe he had gone into his office.
“Hey, what is it? What is wrong?” Another voice. Unmistakable anywhere. Even if Felix hadn’t spent weeks now listening to it, he would still have recognized Ilya Rozanov’s voice.
–
What if the filmmaker making the documentary about Hollander and Rozanov discovered the truth about their relationship. So he approaches Shane and Ilya about filming them over the course of the 2020/2021 season to create an honest documentary that tells the true story of their lives. Canon-divergent AU set during The Long Game.

The main fix-it I crave in the Heated Rivalry universe is Shane and Ilya getting an opportunity to come out in their own time and their own way and them choosing an active role in shaping public opinion when they do. This story is a very engaging version of that through an outsider POV and a lot of really satisfying moments and perspectives. Very entertaining and thoughtful story.
