“What are you in for?” The kid asked, after a moment of silence.
“Excuse me?” Oswald spluttered.
“I’m assuming it’s not good behaviour.” Teeth flashing as he smiled at him, reminding Oswald briefly of a caged animal.
“I…” He sighed and pursed his lips, “Ms. Curran didn’t appreciate my story.”
“Same here. What did you write about?” His smile grew- if that was even possible at this point. The kids face was 90% mouth, not that it was a bad thing.
“Killing James Gordon.” Oswald replied with no hesitation, if he was lucky it would cause him to back away.
Instead, the kid’s eyes glittered, wide with glee. Now that Oswald was actually looking at him, there was a cold intelligence behind them, the sparkle almost academic in nature.
“What about you?” Oswald asked, then watched as the smile fell from his face.
“It was the…Kringle situation…again.” He looked away sheepishly.
Oswald had almost forgotten the other thing the riddle kid was known for. He gave an understanding nod, letting the kid know he didn’t have to say it out loud.
