    Summary

In the early morning in a little house in Hateno Village, there was a routine. One that neither Zelda or Link realized consciously, but their bodies knew. The bodies that were magnets of fates, tangled into their limbs.

(or, a drabble of a soft morning for Link and Zelda)

“Use your words, leibling.” Klavier whispered into his collarbone, which Apollo knew was turning red against the white skin, Klavier’s tip now skittering across his boxers playfully and daringly.

“Do you want to—” Apollo stuttered, as Klavier put a leg up around his waist, pressing them closer together. Apollo let out a gasp at that, his body unconsciously pressing forward at that. “That’s a yes.”

Ja,” Klavier’s chin jutted onto his collarbone, and let out a sleepy smile to Apollo, blue eyes crinkling like teardrops to him. “Do your worst, schatzi.”

(Or, Apollo gives Klavier a morning blowjob.)

    Summary

As they wandered off, Klavier turned to Apollo. “What are you doing here? I thought you had work?”

“A suspect turned themselves in, so I’m out of a case.” Apollo shrugged. “Thought I would surprise you.”

Klavier gave a quick kiss on her cheek, “An excellent surprise.” She looked down to see where the cameraperson was packing up their camera.  “Ja, I cannot figure out whether I intimidate them .”

Apollo snorted, tugging her gently down the pathway. “I would say several witnesses who would say why.”

(Or, Apollo surprises her girlfriend during her photoshoot, and they talk about Klavier's recent coming out)

    Summary

“She’s not mine.” One day, Mikotoba would look back and ask himself why that was the first thing he said to Herlock that night.

“Her mother?” Herlock beckoned him in, slamming the deadbolt into place.

“I tried my best,” Mikotoba said, tipping his hat to shield his eyes. Perhaps Herlock could see his shaking, bloodied fingers that he hid into his curled fists.

He had tried his best, like with his wife.

(or, Mikotoba brings Iris home for the first time)

    Summary

Zelda offered an awkward wave at them, and they came to the glass wall. They took off their hockey helmet, revealing blue eyes that were neither friendly nor unfriendly. Tawny hair filtered down around them, twin braids framing his eyes. It was a lean boy, the eyes as blue as the ice that he stood on. He was quite small for a hockey player, but the beat up helmet told Zelda otherwise.

He didn’t speak, however, expanding the awkward silence that Zelda felt surrounding the two of them. To her surprise, he signed:

    Hello.

Zelda nodded, “I know sign language. I took it in high school.”

Based on the flicker in his face, Zelda read the wariness on his face immediately. And if someone signed, well, there was a reason. He wasn't deaf, but she knew there were other reasons for that. But she hadn’t encountered any up close, however.

(Or, Link and Zelda meet on an ice rink, and a snow day brings them together.)

    Summary

They don’t allow robots as pets here?

Zelda was finding it easier to tell when they were joking by now, letting out a little giggle.

“No, my father didn’t want me to bring any,” Zelda said, just loud enough for them to hear. “He said it was a distraction.”

It makes you happy. Link said simply.

    They were right.

“You look fine,” Langa ruffled Reki’s hair even more, which just made him scowl at him. “What? It looks perfectly normal.”

As long as Langa said it was fine, it was…. right? Except Langa didn’t know about the uncomfortableness that was fumbled within him as he took his skateboard out with him. Langa raised his eyebrows at his still motion, “Are you not coming?

    Summary

There was a pause in the room, where Link looked at Zelda’s crestfallen face with worry,

    Are you okay?

The ok sign finally prompted Zelda to say, “It’s just….” at Link’s furrowed face, she went, “Yes!”

“I mean, yes!” Her fingers curled onto the books resting next to her, as her blue skirt folded beneath her. When she had longer hair, the kids were born prone to see her as “the old princess,” before The Calamity, when she would come to visit. Where the little girls would beg to braid her hair, and they would stare in awe at the strong princess they would see her as.

(or, Zelda cuts her hair, and realizes that she's as good as she is, despite other's opinions.)

    Summary

He started to move his hands, biting his lip, and a flicker of an expression crossed across his otherwise stoic face. If Zelda hadn’t grown up being trained to read people due to her professional instincts bestowed upon her by his father, she would have missed it.

Instead of answering, the boy took out his phone and started typing. Quite a bit rude, if you asked her. Coming up to order and then—

He slid the phone forward, striking blue eyes meeting hers. It was open to a notes app:

I would like a flat white, two extra shots please.

(Or, Zelda has a cute boy come in the coffee shop that uses sign language—so logically, she learns it too.)

    Summary

“Now, what do you hear?” Hollypaw knew this by now, she had done it herself many times, too many times. To put her in Jaypaw’s place, she knew how easy the frustration could come to him in the moments where she couldn’t do anything with her voice or her own paws.

“I hear….” Cinderpaw’s ears flattened against her head, actually concentrating. “I hear the birds.”

There was a pause, and Jaypaw stifled a sigh. “Okay, what else?”

(Or, Hollypaw watches Jaypaw teach Cinderpaw on how he works as a blind warrior.)

    Summary

He didn’t connect with him when there were other people around, he didn’t want his existence known. Somewhat of an oxymoron when he so desperately wanted his identity to be known, to see how many other people knew about him, to solve the mystery of who he was.
I don’t need to be known to be here. He murmured to himself. I’ll look after them from here. If they die, which they won’t, I’ll make sure they don’t; I’ll be here.
    I’ll be here, waiting.

Who in their right mind would let him in, a small cat that just showed up, pathetic like the bones that peered around his slick fur? He didn’t look like a warrior, let alone an apprentice,  in this type of weather.

“My name is Ravenpaw of ThunderClan.” He had recited it on the way here, in his mind, in tandem with his own skittish heartbeat. “I came to ask for help.”

“Pumpkin stew?” Zelda said, despite herself. Link’s eyebrows furrowed just a bit, the first notice of the emotion since their interaction.

My apologies, Princess. He signed, a slight frown coming to his face. I would—

“No, it’s—” Despite everything, a flush came to her throat, in the icy blush that erupted across the tension, “It’s very strong.”

Link looked like he wasn’t sure whether he was supposed to take that as a compliment or an insult, and honestly, Zelda didn’t either. But she knew one thing she should say.

“It’s good.” Zelda settled on, situating herself more properly. “Thank you.”

    Summary

Now she didn’t want it to end. But she could see that, even if she hated the crawling feeling that came with the finale with things. A concrete ending to these moments which they shared. Then next time would be at a crime scene, where things would become stagnently professional again, and the cues that happened in this past night would evaporate.

“Nein,” Klavier hovered awkwardly near the counter. Trucy hated to call it that, but with his drumming fingers—she didn’t need that odd feeling in her chest to know that he felt nervous. That he was hiding something.

    Summary

It fell between her claws as she tried to raise and pat at it, slicing through it as if it were grass. They fell away into clumps, which mounted up along the rocks and ledges that stuck out along the hollow. All the dens were blanketed in a thick set of snow, muddling all of the snoring cats. There was white everywhere, from the tips of the cat’s noses to the tops of the dens, as if an entire world had fallen on them when they were sleeping.

“Woah!” Lionpaw gasped. White freckled his nose, and he sneezed, and Hollypaw purred in amusement.

“This is your first snow!” Cinderpaw said, and she leaped forward, landing in a drift. Snow flew up around her, and she yelped as she misjudged and fell head first.

“What if Trucy doesn’t like them?”

Apollo let out a croaking laugh, “She’s like me. She’ll like anything, because it’s from you.

Klavier blinked at him, then nodded. Apollo realized how he sounded a few seconds later, turning red. He wasn’t used to sentimental words, or words of affection - words that sounded odd in his mouth.

“Ach, even if they’re a premade brownie mix?”

Especially if they’re premade brownie mix.” Apollo teased back. The air had lifted, and his bracelet - even if it hadn’t at all constricted - felt lighter.

“You fur-ball! You can read cats’ minds! That’s not unimportant! I quit being a medicine cat because I know I could do better as a warrior.”

“So your blind brother can apparently do better as a medicine cat. I get it, I can’t be a real warrior. I would be a useless warrior, we all know it!”

“You can be! If you’re unhappy being a medicine cat, I’m sure-”

“Hollypaw, I’m blind. I hate being blind, all these cats doubt me!” He remembered his skirmish with Owlpaw, humiliation afterwards that both of his siblings had to help him, the overwhelmed feeling that had swooped around him - and the clashing of cats’ claws and jumbled feelings everywhere. “I couldn’t even defeat Owlpaw!”

(or, Jaypaw feels worthless as a medicine cat, so maybe that isn't the right route for him.)

“You can’t just risk your own health for me,” she couldn’t help her own health at times, when her research consumed her over to research into the night. But if she could do one person's duty as a princess to help Hyrule, even helping one of her own personal friends, well, she would have succeeded.

    That’s my job, though.

“Your job isn’t to force yourself to take care of me.”

That’s my duty. He repeated. But caught in the light, in the amber glow painting his rosy cheeks, it looked forced. Forced onto his young stature and slumped shoulders. It is my duty.

    Summary

Hello. Their eyes met again, beady black mewing up at the girl. Do you remember me?

“How are you doing, Sissel?” she scratched him behind the ears, a soft tickle that made him purr. “Still a kitten, are you?”

I will forever be. He mewed, even though he knew she couldn’t understand that. He was immortal, he couldn’t die. He wouldn’t want to - after everything that had happened, the deep past that didn’t haunt him  - it couldn’t haunt him after all - but he felt it. In his non-aching bones, and as the years turned and passed.

(or, Sissel reflects on how no one remembers him - and oddly, how he's fine with that.)
