Where he had felt out of step with everyone else, he and her were right on beat together, dancing around the ED, just as they had on her first day. He had been shocked how easily they picked up where they’d left off. There was no wariness towards him, no undercurrent of judgement, no hesitation to let him treat a patient. She didn’t hold him back, she pushed him forward. It was what he needed more than anything.

The rules to the game are simple. They each choose a day to go out with somebody else. Meaning 24 hours like they are single again, or like a one-day-open-marriage. Have a date, kiss, get a hotel room… see where the day takes you. Just one person, though. This person has to be a stranger.
Abby is playing by the rules. Frank is not. And Mel? She had no idea they were even playing.
