There’s a long exhale behind him and then he hears a breath hitch.
“It’s my problem and you told me to deal with it,” Mike breathes. “So, I’m dealing with it.” Will wishes so badly he had something to physically throw at him. But he doesn’t, so he remains frozen there with his eyes closed and his nails digging into the palms of his hands. “That’s what you said, isn’t it?”
Mike seriously needs therapy, he thinks.
“I’m going to kick your ass if your hand’s on your dick right now,” Will protests, although nothing about his tone is even the slightest bit threatening.
“You’ll have to turn around to find out.”

Summary
Will Byers follows the Byers code and picks up smoking just like everybody else. Bumping into a certain Jock he paid no mind to.
P.S. hard canon divergence, but this still kind of takes place right before season 5 and during. The 18 months of living with the wheelers. Time is wonky and I don't want to fix it, they still go to school. Will has premonitions and visions as his foreshadowed powers. Chance is a little shit.

Summary
He’d been prescribed Benzodiazepines by his psychiatrist for sleep, and despite them not helping whatsoever to reduce the nightmares he continued to re-fill them for the few months they’d been in Lenora. Each night, he’d take his medication and try to sleep, each night he’d be back in the bathroom with the loopy feeling and killer headache. Some nights, he’d take more medication to knock himself out and some nights he’d spend cooped up in the bathroom, staring off into the distance fading in and out of consciousness. Sure – they’d left Hawkins, but he’d never forget the things he’d seen and gone through.

Will can't sleep and 'accidentally' overdoses on his medication a week before he's scheduled to go to Hawkins for the winter break. When he gets there, he realizes just how much has changed.Ft: Byclair friendship and WillEl sibling dynamic
